Hi all. After 20 years, I still don't miss a Valentines Day with my wife.(If I know what's good for me anyways) Last year I made her this heart necklace out of some type of red plume agate. And this year I finally got around to making the matching earrings. Not sure what to make next year, but I'm sure I'll come up with something to keep me out of the doghouse! OOPS, I still need to clean the excess epoxy off before she gets home. Thanks for looking. Ed

Thanks all. KD, the hardest part of the hearts is the V at the top. I used the dremel to refine and polish that area. Can't wait to see the blue lace heart. She did like them and all is happy here at Stoner's place.

That is a beautiful set Ed, she should be a happy lady. Are the posts with the bails on them drilled into the rocks? If so, approx. how deep? Seeing your work shows me what I want to learn.

Very lovely work. Your wife must be proud to have a talent like yours in the family. Yesterday was our 46th Valentines day together and next Monday is our 47th wedding aniv. Smartest thing I ever did was to marry that woman. Bet you feel the same.

Thanks everyone. I don't think I'm ready to compete with Wenrics yet Tony, they do some pretty nice stuf there. Joe, the holes are only about 1/8" deep and it was rather difficult to drill the earrings. Drupe, after 47 years, I'd say you made the right choice, and yes, I feel the same way. Stephan, break out the Dremel for the V, it's the only way to get in such a narrow spot.

Do you use the Dremel only after the grinder polish is done or do you use it after each grit stage on the grinder? I mean do you finish the 220 wheel and go to Dremel and then back to a finer grinder wheel then back to Dremel?

I grind the basic shape on the grinder, then use the Dremel to cut the V. Then I use the grinder to sand out the scratches and if the Vgets messed up, I go back to the Dremel and then use Sic sandpaper to finish it off and then the leather wheel to polish it.

Ed, Great little pair of earings! Maybe you ought to get your ears pierced and sport those around. I made my wife something as well...just not as cool as that, only a card on my printshop program. I didn't even get scolded for it. I guess after 13 years of marriage, she has come to expect worse. That is a neat matching set. Steve

steveholmes that's because she's done what i did and gotten herself a back-up present and you haven't seen it yet lol. that's why she's not upset about the card.
ed i'm very impressed with the earrings. next year a big red heart candle holder with that core drill you are suppose to show me!
