I had a fire out at my shop yesterday, caused by someone who threw a cigarette in the dry brush about 2 miles from my shop and caught some BLM ground on fire, it spread across the BLM ground and when it got to my place it was so hot and fast that it burned everything in its path. I took some pics last night right after the fire went through. I had a big sprinkler set up on the shop to try to save it, but it was so hot it melted the pipe. This is looking at my shop from the front, the forklift was sitting in the middle of an open area, no weeds around it. It used to have a man lift on the front of it, it melted. My boom truck was parked inside the shop. The back one is my form trailer, the front one is a small trash trailer. This is my camp trailer with all my camping gear in it. This is my 30" saw after the shop caved in, there is 30 gallons of mineral oil in the saw, it burned all night long. There are also some places where the ladders melted in place and left a ladder shadow on the concrete in aluminum, I tried to get pics of it, but it was still too hot this morning to get close enough. Alot of my larger rocks were inside and got cooked, most of them turned into lots of smaller rocks. The big rock pile outside seems to have fared better, I still have not been able to get to the big pile inside yet. My Morisonite stash is trashed, it exploded like little bombs. Thankfully no one was hurt. Will let you know more later. Tony

Oh, Tony! I'm so sorry man! Is this the saw due to which you were able to post so many pics with slabs? That would be a loss not only for you, but also for all of us. Adrian

Oh wow. It's amazing how much damage the fire did! Was most of the equipment for your work or your personal work (not counting the rock stuff)?

Oh man Tony, I'm so sorry to hear this. Thank goodness you and your family weren't hurt. It's obvious from the aftermath that it was fast, furious and unstoppable. Man what a loss

I'm stunned. Tony. I can't believe all of it is up in smoke...I'm very glad no one was hurt. You've been so generous with your rock, with your knowledge and everything! This kind of thing shouldn't happen to such a good man like yourself... I'm so sorry. Stupid fire.

Oh Man! It seems like a real bad nightmare. I know what those fires can do. To listen to our customers tell us what people should do there. Perhaps they should go there and feel such loss first hand. Wow, one day it needs work, here and there, next day, charcoal. What are your plans? Or is it too soon to even have any? I am so sorry for you and your family. I do not even have any words, just my heartfelt feelings. No one deserves that.

Holy Crap Tony! That just sucks. That must have been some fire. I was thinking a small grass fire when I first started reading. I'm glad you guys are alright and I assume your house was spared too. Damn, that was a brand new 36" Covington, right?

I sure hope you have no trouble with the insurance. I realize that insurance can never cover some of the things lost in a fire (been there) but dealing with the insurance people can be a real pain, (been there too) and just when you are really hurting they are at their worst. Just seeing these photographs knots my stomach. Woody
