Dang Adrian tell me the second one is a twisted square wire and not two round wires twisted together!!! If they are round you beat me to the twisty groove idea!! Sorry for infringing on your copyright.

Scott, it's twisted square. Hey, you know what? You make a square twisted wire pendant, I make a double twisted one and then we sue each other, What a fun would it be! ;D

Jim,
Rest assured "I" have no intentions of copying your design. LOL My thing is chain mail......and should I ever come up with a new design, I will readily share it with all of my friends here as opposed to sitting back for months.......watching all of the similar designs, just waiting for the right moment to pounce. There is a reason this particular groove wrap design has not been used as opposed to the "old" design and it is because the old design is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Having the same wire as part of the bail makes the design flow nicely. Having something crimped at the top does not (just my opinion). It is also most certainly not an issue of others not understanding you. It is more the instantaneous "DO NOT COPY MY DESIGN! I DARE YOU! CEASE & DESIST!!!! attitude that you have exhibited that is causing the comments.
Had Adrian patented his design and then announced it, most would have congratulated him. However, your combative attitude points more towards your desire to announce this in this way, just for the effect.

Thats it.... The crimped bail!!!
Rockitman, I hereby solemnly swear to never ever use a crimped bail. May God strike me dead if I even think about it.
Good luck with your wraps.

You cant manufacture them. I can. ] Its not hard to understand at all. Your above statement makes it pretty clear why you are HERE and thats not what this board is all about. I wouldnt want to manufacture them, and neither would anyone else. What part of that do YOU not understand? Shannon

Just curious.........if you are telling everyone to keep wrapping as they have been, why announce "this is going to change everything!!!"

For what it's worth.
This muppet has posted pictures of single and double wire loops on his (mediocre looking) cabs. Thats his design guys and gals. He's right ya know, but so long as you peeps keep producing your excellent wraps you have nothing to worry about.
A patent is to cover the copying of an exact replica of a design. Having worked in the past, in a design office in a machine manfacturing company we were legally bound to obide by the copyright and patents acts.
Therefore we were not allowed to design and build a machine the same as the company next door (not neccessarily that close), however, all we had to do to prove that our machine was different to theirs was to add a switch here, a screw there, different positioned handles ect ect.
It's a pointless exercise and the guy has invested all his time and money wisely. LOL
Oh, and as an afterthought.
His patent is for wire wrapped gems and gem stones.
Do my Fancy Jasper rocks, my Rose Quartz, ect ect still fit the bill.
I can't afford gem stones, but I have buckets full of semi precious rocks, or just plain simple fancy coloured rocks.

... You cant manufacture them. I can. ... Oh yes we can, most of us! Maybe we MAY not, according to you! And, as you see, for your sake, we don't WANT to neither. What we all COULD do here is keep this place apart from the crazy world where people sue the company after cooking their cat in the microwave owen, and gain. All of us MAY do that, most of us CAN but, sadly, some "CANT". Adrian PS. If I'd be you, I wouldn't be concerned so much about the few of us here that could steal your brilliant idea, but more about some of the 1.3 billion people living in the countrry where almost all things are MADE IN nowadays. Good luck in chasing them!

Rockitman,
There is no excuse for the comments you just posted. You are neither gentlemanly nor intellectual. If you can’t have a discussion or debate without your emotions taking over and dictating your actions you should seek professional help.
To the rest of you great folks, I refuse to let this person or the other one ruin this site for me. I plan to keep on reading your good advice and sharing problems and successes with you.

Seize and desist orders orders will follow. Yall think I am kidding? Mmmmm, I'm confused about all this now Do you mean seize as in take possession of? Or Do you mean cease - as in stop doing??? Also, I notice that the pictures of a cab, and the background you have used look extremely similar to some of my pictures taken in 2003 Are you able to explain the similarities please?

Jim, the patent application isn't even in your name. I thought you were talking about the ugly, excessively long crimps at the top. That is why I called them awkward. Where does it say Jim Porterf on the application?
Of course, you won't have to worry about me copying the groove wrap because I personally don't like it. It is neat, but I like a 'little' more frill on the wrap.

Jim, I don't like your groove wraps if you would like to know how to do them correctly so someone would wear or buy them go back and study Adrain's, I think he gave detailed instructions how to do them a long time ago. Talking law suit, you called Shannon a B.... that is SLANDER, and if she chose to do so she could sue you! This board is for learning and sharing and I don't think you fit in! You are only here to take not give. But thieves never win in the end! You can make sure that I will call attention to your insults and lack of honesty on all the boards. If you want to call someone a B.... that would be me I am one, good at it, and rather enjoy it! I have learned to be good at it because there are people like you! I will be at the Round up like you usually go to, and I will be glad to tell you what I think of you in person. I don't like people like you who are rude, nasty, and Steal from my friends. Your posts on this board has been rude for some time, is this how you get your kicks or has GREED transformed your person? Donna (The half breed and you make me want to go on the warpath)

Jim, you have stepped over the line here. I have been a member for a very long time and can tell you that calling Shannon a *B* will not fly well here. You may have signed your own fate on this board. I personally will not tolerate your behaviour and expect you to apologize to Shannon immediatly. You are free to share your opinions here but not to call names!

Jim, I'm not trying to pile on here, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why you would post pictures of your [allegedly] patented wraps on a forum if you did not want people to copy your frog bail technique. In essence, to me at least, if you wanted to protect your frog bail technique, perhaps not showing it on a hobby forum with folks that openly share ideas and techniques, would be the best way to protect it.
As far as what you called Shannon... I'm very disappointed that you would choose to do that, and it really pains me to see your behavior displayed on a site that is visited by families of all ages who are sharing the hobby together.
Sorry Jim, just my two cents. Jo

Yes you crossed WAY over the line with the *B* thing :nono: . As for as "your" wraps don't worry I wont use any of "your" goofy bails . I am glad you are going to sell them cheap because that is what I think they look. IMHO Keith

Wow what a discussion. It started out with Jim being confrontational and rather nasty and went south from there. As far as the patent goes I wish you luck Jim and hope you can manage to get your $ back. I doubt you will manage that by harassing the good people here. I plan to continue doing my groove wraps so feel free to sue me, that is once you provide proof that you actually have been granted a patent. If you are only going to pursue legal action against copying of your bail then I will be more than safe. I much prefer the hand wrapped ones that everyone does here to some mechanical crimp. It sounds like you are going to market these to jewelers, good luck with that, I'd try targeting Chinese manufacturers.
As far as trying to patent groove wrapping I'd be shocked if you could get a patent for that. Its kind of like trying to patent round pancakes. Hey there is something I should pursue. So did you steal the idea for groove wrapping from someone here or from another board. Its hardly a new idea and I've seen reference to them as far back as the 1950's.
As far as your attitude goes I find it appalling. You posted this to create confrontation and when people took your bait you decided to get rude and insulting. I can honestly say that is the first time I have seen the "B" word used here and I hope its the last. Although based on your attitude to the members of this board I expect you to do it again. I will no long post on your cab threads as I don't like rude people. Good luck in court.

Its kind of like trying to patent round pancakes. Hey there is something I should pursue.... Tony, don't even go there :nono: I've already applied for the patent. It's only an application right enough, but hey it's a start ;D Before you even start to rethink your idea, I've registered the 8", 10", 12" and Double Whopper Frog Hopper Family Sized 16" Ya can have the 14" if you want, but I think that has been around since before King Alfred burnt the Cakes.
