Jim, I think you have lost it. Groove wraps have been around a long tome, even some with twisted wires. Only thing I see different is the awkward looking crimps at the top. But, I do like the stones. Ken
P.S. See you at the roundup and I will till you what I REALLY think of it. Hee hee

Thats a patent application not a patent, big difference. Doubt they will give you a patent for something so widely used. The US patent office states
Since groove wraps were in the August 2007 Rock and Gem magazine and your application was not made until May 2008 it doesn't look good for you. Rock and Gem also says they were invented by Moe Mechling from Steubenville, Ohio. So you might have some issues with him too. I'm not a lawyer however so maybe I'm wrong. Best of luck to you.
You have some very nice wraps there. I really like the fourth one down.

I was imagining that system by myself, never copied someone else. In fact, at the date of the issue of your pattent (may 2008) I was already posting a lot of groove wraps here. So I will continue posting my work here, if you don't mind. Congrats for patenting it, anyway. I always doubted I would be the first one who imagined such a simple system, and wandered why it's not more spread.

Perhaps you could direct us to the patent. I was unable to find it on the patent web site. I could only find your application. When did you obtain the patent maybe they are just really slow in updating.

Adrian the link he gives is for a patent application not a patent. I added to my above post, take a peek at it.

Good luck getting the patent granted. Generally, the US Patent Office does not grant patents for ideas and methods that can be considered as being de facto in the public domain. But I do wish you luck. Tom

first declared if not published. It was published a year before you filed. Show us a patent not an application and I will happily take back my comments.

LOL.......Ummmm.......Jim were you drinking when you applied for this patent? LOL I dont care how much your machine cost that makes these, anyone can do the same with a saw blade, a rock, and a piece of wire. This is not a new invention by any means. Good luck hunting down the thousands that have been making this type of jewelry for ages. NEXT!!!!! LOL Shannon

Ok explain it to us. What is different other than the bail binding?
If you have a patent please show it or give it up.

Not nice to try taking credit for others ideas. Rock and Gem Aug. 2007 says it was invented by Moe Mechling from Steubenville, Ohio.

Looks like you infringed on Mr Mechlings copyright from that link. You should stop making those right away before he sues you.
Nope, just read rest of it. Looks like since it was published in Rock and Gem Magazine you are safe. Mr Meching sure is a good guy to allow us all to use his design.
In case anyone is concerned about it you can all feel free to use my twisty groove design. I would take it as a compliment actually.

Is it the bail you are refering to? Other than that they look the same. Maybe we are all just not seeing your new design. Please point it out for us. It might be obvious with one in front of you but its not from the pictures.

I guess the single bail wire on some of them is different. Is this what you mean?

Oh, if it's about the bail, you can rest asured I won't use it. I tried and didn't like the results. Anyway, your bails came out nicer than mine using the same system. Good luck in perfecting the system.
