Well, I've done it. I decided it was time to try wrapping. I made a midnight lace obsidian cab and wrapped it for Abby's birthday. She loves it! I gotta say this is a lot of work and you all make it look sooo easy! I wrapped this cab with silver colored copper wire, and it took me about an hour. Here's the cab back-lit. Thanks for looking. Nate

Is that your first try? It turned out perfect, the hardest part is keeping the binding wires tight and you nailed it. Awesome job!!

WTG Nate, you did a great job. Kept everything even and tight and that is hard with round wire. Ken

Thanks everyone! Yes it's my first wrap. I've trolled the wire wrap forum forever, always wondering if I'd ever wanna try it. It looks so cool, and all the different styles are so beautiful. I'm really amazed at all the different ways wire can look wrapped around a stone ! You all do such a wonderful job and really make it look easy. I got stumped at the bail, and almost screwed up the whole wrap, but took a deep breath and worked through it. Thank you all for your inspiration. Nate

Nice job! Maybe if you used different wire it would be easier for you but looks like you did great with what you have already.

Thanks drocknut. The wire worked fine, it's quite pliable. I just wasn't near a computer to check any tutorials or reference pictures when I was wrapping this. If you could see through the binding on the bail you'd all laugh, so it's nice to be able to hide things with the wire lol. Here's Abby wearing the wrap today. It looks great - the size is perfect. Thanks for looking. Nate

Thank you Fran and moondragon. She's not so "little" anymore - Abby turned 13 yesterday. She'll always be my little girl though.

Thank you Amber, Jo, and Scott. She wore it all day, and I think she's planning on wearing it to school tomorrow too. It's very rewarding taking a piece of rock, cabbing it, then wrapping it. I might have to do a few more of these. LOL!
BTW, this is the obsidian I got from Jason - rockhound97058. Great stuff to work!
