Thanks so much for the all the pix. I don't usually get to this part of the forum, but I have really enjoyed seeing how your house is being built.

Hi Adrian, Welcome back! Have you decided on what energy source you will use?Gas,Electric, etc, etc? The area for the boiler seems to be pretty small so this is why I ask about the energy source. I love the curved wall/ceiling,,,,it's a VERY nice idea and I think it adds an "elegance' to the room! The workers must be as strong as mules,,,they always have a shovel or trowel in their hands! LOL The window sill is beautiful and it looks almost like Labradorite too! Buflete(Buffy) is soooooooo cute and he looks like he's having a LOT of fun in the outside yard! A lot of work has been done and I hope the weather is good for you this coming week! Thanks for the up-dates and all the photos! connrock

Thank you, Pat, Hope and Tom! Tom, the source of energy we rely on is gas. Gas boilers do not require much space - they're pretty small. I agree there's not much space there but there's enough for such a boiler. That space would had been lost otherwise. Related on the strength of the workers, here's a funny storry from a couple of weeks ago: one of them worked a lot that day squeezing the "pistol" to fill some holes with bi-component mortar. At the end of the day, when we shook hand, I had the sensation of a hydraulic press squeezing my hand!! Adrian

Hi Adrian, The reason I asked about the energy source is because you mentioned that the gas line was down the street and you were trying to get the gas company to run a gas line closer to your home and other homes in the area. I assume that the gas line has been run in the street now?
I used to have a "hydraulic grip" like the worker you talked about but age has taken it's tool on it! LOL Now,,,,I'm having a good day when I can button my own shirt or open a medicine pill bottle myself! LOL
I hope to enter the Senior Citizen Marshmallow Squeezing Contest but I don't think I will do very well! LOL Connrock

It is great to see a house so well built.A little more effort and planning goes a long way.And Europe is a beautiful country with the buildings that have stood for 100's of years.Kudus to you and your house project.Houses like that is what helps make your countries so amazing.

Hello, friends! I am writing the update today because it's the end of the working week. Although it's only Tuesday, Tomorrow starts a one week vacation for May 1st and then for the Easter. Progresses have been done, even if some of them are more noticeable in this stage. For example, the crew worked a lot to bring the walls more and more to finish: The walls are more and more straight and the rooms are more and more sunny, due to the white color of the walls. The most noticeable progress is the dismantling of the barrack in the yard and the build of the gazebo on its place. The gazebo foundation is ready for now: In the meantime, the tile work in the basement has been completely done: And here is a drywall structure, in the bedroom, above what would be the bed; good to hold some books, etc: Thank you for looking, Adrian

I'm not surprised to see that the gazebo is also "bullet proof" in it's construction! LOL I'm sure it will look great when it is finished too! Doing "dry wall" work is an art. I tried to do my own "tapping" but ended up with more on the floors then the walls so I had to hire someone to do it for me! Enjoy your vacation! connrock

Hello again, friends! Time for a new update. I was waiting two weeks between the updates because a lot of finishing works - like straightening and smoothing the walls - simply cannot be pictured. But here are some noticeable progress, both inside and outside the house. Firstly the yard. More earth was added to raise the level of the yard. And then they compacted it with the "canguroo foot": Here is the back yard with the compacted soil: After this, we set the re-bar net on the ground: Then, the "elephant" came and the concrete pouring begun: And here you can see the yard after the concrete was poured and cured. Now the future "green areas" are easier to see: In the pic above, one can see the small barrack we build for hosting the gardening tools. Some say it's small, but I keep sayin' them that no matter how big would have it been, it would had been full anyway! Let's get inside the house now. In the basement, they stuck the brick on the ceiling... ... and then they put grout in between the bricks: Here's the basement ceiling, done: Going upstairs, here are the tile works in one of the bathrooms: The bath tub is set in the other bathroom: As I said in the beginning, some other finishing works have been also made. Hard to picture, but still the inside of the house looks better and better with each small detail done: Thank you for looking, Adrian

Love the tile in the bathroom. Ina is gonna mess up the marble in those windows with her flowers, right? And it looks like a cement mixer has your window targeted. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you everyone! Karen, on the window sill there's a piece of thermal insulation (styropor). Sheri and Todd, not yet packing but it's not far that day. Sheri, we also thought about filling the basement with boxes Adrian

Hi Adrian, Everything is starting to come together beautifully! From bare concrete to beautiful tile ad bricks! ,,,,,,,,and soon you'll all be sitting in the "bullet proof" gazebo! LOL You're right about the size of the tool shed too! If it is 10'x10' or 100'x100' it WILL be full! In the photo of the worker doing the brick grout on the cieling ,,the other guy is on the phone,,,,,is he ordering Apizza??? LOL Or is it his wife telling him to get home,,,,fast? LOL
Thanks for the up-date and the great photos! connrock

Tom, I am so glad I don't have cell phone coverage in the basement! What a good excuse, LOL! I'm in another network. I think he was talking to his wife.
