Hello, friends! These two weeks came with new progresses. let's see firstly what's new in the outside of the house. The last big concrete pouring completed the gazebo platform... ...and the path (sidewalk) around the house: The access in the yard is also done. Here you can see Buflete inspecting the freshly poured concrete: This is the rail for the sliding gate (an angle steel shape partly embedded in concrete and partly emerging out of it. The crew installed a scaffolding on two sides of the house to stick the thermo-insulation (styropor plates) on the outside of the walls: They took advantage of the presence of the scaffolding close to the buttress and started to cover the buttress with stone tiles: You can see the buttress here, together with the guy who does the job. Looking proud of what he's doing and I also like the look of the buttress covered in stone. Now let's see what's new inside the house. In the upper floor bathrooms, some finishing touches have been made in the bathrooms: you can see how patient this guy was to cut the tiles in narrow pieces to follow the curve of the bathtub: These upper floor bathrooms are waiting for the plumbers by now: To the ground floor level, they covered the floor of the entrance hall and of the kitchen with tile: But the most noticeable change inside the house is in the living room. A specialized crew came yesterday and started to install the fireplace. Here are the pieces and some tools: Starting to take shape... Those guys really worked patiently and precisely: Here is one of the two lateral pillars of the fireplace. You can see I gave them some pet woods to embed in their tile work. They did it beautifully, I think: And this is how the fireplace is looking now: The works to the fireplace will continue today and I will update the post pretty soon. Thank you for looking, Adrian

Looking great. Is any pf that pet wood what I sent you, or other sources? Todd, all the pet wood is either local or from Lesbos Island. So no, not from you. But relax, there are lots of places in which we plan to display rocks Thank you Scott, Krystee and Brian. Adrian

Hi Adrian, It won't be long before you're sitting in your gazebo drinking a beer and thinking about what to "create" next! LOL Not long ago this is what you had,,, Now there is a home standing there that's not quite finished but has come a LONG way! Did Buflete leave his foot prints in the concrete? LOL You certainly have a great mind for designing and I'm very impressed with what I have seen! Now if only those lazy plumbers will come to do the finish work in the bathrooms! LOL If they don't come soon,,,,check to local Taverns! LOL Thanks again for taking the time to show all of us the progress on your New Creation! connrock

LOL.... I have a demented sense of humor. Above it says "not long ago this is what you had" .... I look at the pic and see his family. Yeah, I'm the only one who thinks this way

Wonderful post, Tom. Thank you for refreshing our memory. Yep Randy, not too long ago I had a lovely family only. Now I have a lovely family AND a home in progress. Adrian PS. I promised you to come up with photos when the fireplace is done, so here they are: Don't worry, the guy was not enclosed in there Here is the inside of the upper part of the fireplace. It's built from a material called calcium silicate - very good thermal insulator, resists to temps up to over 1000 degs. You can also see the two round hollows in the ceiling, which would allow part of the hot air to go to the upstair bedrooms and heat those rooms. And here is the fireplace done. Of course the upper part has to be stuccoed and painted. We also plan to build a soffit light surrounding the top of the fireplace (this is what's that wire for) They protected the stone with a special liquid. This way the colors were a bit enhanced.

I love a good fire in a fireplace. When the kids were little, we roasted marshmallows for s'mores in the fireplace.

Hello, everyone! Here is the update for this past working week. On the outside, they stuck the styropor on two sides of the house and then covered it with cement rendering. In the meantime, the buttress was completely covered in stone. You can see these works in the pics below: Inside the house, the electrician installed the plugs and the lamp in the basement: The tile work on the kitchen walls is in progress: The paint job in the upper rooms: Here's a detail of the guide of the sliding gate to the entrance in the yard: And here are some candies for Tom. The solar panels and the boiler inside the loft. The work is not ready yet, it's in progress: The solar panels will be connected to the boiler next week, wen we will have the special devices which allow the pipes to go through the roof. Thank you for looking, Adrian

Interesting to see the outside being done. Here we do the EIFS system on some of the jobs, mostly commercial.Exterior Insulating Finishing System, the correct term,I just call it foam system. We imbed a layer of fiberglass mesh on the first coat over the Styrofoam, then the finish. We cut in joints ever so often to have a starting and stopping point,to keep the color true as its floated out. Anyway keep the pics coming. Enjoying it.
