All right, you need to make a set of drink coasters like that. That is friggin beautiful!....Mel Sawed those in Mapei tile grout for thin joints that uses ground up plastic particles for aggregate(no sand). It is the small pebbles that can be striking and solid, but impossible to saw. The small slabs make great tumbles and cab preforms. Used cheap kerosene and 25% 10w-40 in the saw as the portland is rough on the saw oil.

What bed is this? I have a few of those eggs too,but can't remember the name... Hey Mike, Diane said the box of t-eggs I bought was from McDermott. Another I cut. Cut more but can't figure out where the pictures went. Hate it when I realize that I shouldn't have cut a rock. Was the same in the field around Zapata. Would often window a rock that I figured was a good 'un and regret doing so immediately afterward - because I knew it was good and could have left it whole for tumbling. win some lose some When it warms back up in a day or two I will start taking pictures of what I call my oddities. Some different stuff there that I hope many here will get a kick out of.

Well, a visit to the metro Atlanta war zone is a whole lot mo dangerous than Lake Zapata. Would guess downtown near Bob is the same way. Urban America not safe. Non-American killing American on American soil/water is big news in any case. 9/11 and the border, about it for such killings.

Most of it is about black as coal. It's not blah. Nor is it black as coal. Folks it's gorgeous. These petrified wood pieces display the colors of the night. This exciting type of petrified wood was formed over many years of a slow and steady metamorphic process. A secret process known only to mother nature. The end result is this amazingly beautiful petrified wood product. You will want to incorporate it into all of your lapidary products. Lady's and Gentleman I introduce to you "Midnight Wood".

You nailed that. Truth be told. She is too tall for me and lives too far. But these haven't really become a problem. I'm just playing with the idea that black wood can have a market. Proper description sells anything. The sexy name "midnight wood" is sure to make it outsell black obsidian!

In my boating days we called distant hotties Geographically Undesirable Exactly.... She is a mile outside my normal radius. And along my path to work, so the mile is overlooked!

Midnight wood? I thought that was your stage name, @shotgunner. It's all marketing. And Midnight Wood is harder than obsidian yet fills the same niche.
