I keep some current tumbles on my desk at work in a bowl carved from a solid piece of Mango wood. Not a small bowl. About 10 pounds of tumbles.

melhill1659 TommyAre you using the pay version of the APP or the free version? I just went with the free version to try it out but seems like a whole lot of advertisements. Just wondering if the paid version has less. Who is actually hosting the uploaded photo? Is there reliability? Would hate to see something happen then all the photo links in posts go dead. Judging by the link I am guessing tapatalk has servers? uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170220/c30709d619f8418ebdfea28b1588097e.jpgChuck

Was that straight out of the phone or were you able to do any editing first?

Great picture! And, of course, stellar tumbles.
Does tapatalk give any options for uploading?

OK, I see. So when you go to upload, tapatalk itself doesn't give you any options.

OK, I see. So when you go to upload, tapatalk itself doesn't give you any options. I have not seen any edit features inside of tapatalk. I think for large posts with multiple photos like my weekly tumbles I would still use the PC and photobucket. For quick single photos or field photos this seems like a great option to me. Chuck

There isn't any uploading of them like you have to do with Photobucket or Flickr. You send the photo straight to the forum from your source (iPhone 6 for me). Also no security issues. Put it this way. Say you have a File on your computer it's under "Documents". That file is named Tapatalk. In that file you have sub files with all your forums named. If you added a picture into any of those sub files or all of them it would be straight from the source. Works the same way.

I use the free version and they have it for iPhones and androids. They also have it for your computer but you have to download an android emulator software program as well to make it work. That's also free. I can talk you through that if anyone wants/needs help. It's easy. Tela, you edit your photos the way you do now and just send it. I have editing software on my phone and my pc. Just as if you were emailing or texting one to a friend.

I think there is confusion about the word "hosted". Hosted means that it's stored on their servers. I agree with Chuck that, judging by the URL, the photo is hosted by Tapatalk. I assumed that Tapatalk was owned by Proboards, but apparently not or else you've found a loophole for free hosting. I've never used Tapatalk because I like the web version on both my iPad and my computer. I don't own a cell phone. Drummond Island Rocks, looks like you have a thing for Bahia agates. Do you have another bowl on your desk with pudding stones?

Do you have another bowl on your desk with pudding stones? I had never displayed any rocks on my desk before but I came across this bowl and thought it would look good with tumbles in it. I will keep swapping them out so maybe pudding stones will get a turn. I do not envision using tapatalk a whole lot but I do think it would be super convenient for things like taking a quick photo of what is in the slab saw and instantly posting it or If someone on here posts a question about what my pulley setup looks like on my flat lap I could walk over to it snap the photo and post it in a matter of seconds. Even with the latest and greatest iphone 7+ I will still not be taking my cab, wrap and tumble photos with it so all of those pictures will still be on my main camera and go through photobucket. Chuck

I agree with Rob - I wouldn't call it "hosted" in the traditional sense because once I press send on my phone I have no control over it other than to delete the link out of my post. Judging by the amount of advertising on Tapatalk I think the "loop hole" is a substantial money maker for them. They reduce the photos - the ones I uploaded in my "its alive" cabochon thread were uploaded as full size 5+ MB files and they are being displayed at a relatively tiny 60 kb. So their sales strategy is trading 60 kb of server space for the probably 3 ads I viewed in the process - not to mention the cookies and trackers installed on my phone. The price of freedom for some I won't be doing much more of it but it seems like a great option for our members.
