Looks like a day well spent. I love bourbon barrel aged beer. The local brewery is a master of them. Thanks for the jewelry and specimen photos too. I sold some misc pendants this weekend. Told potential customers they could also be used as zipper pulls.

Looks like you had a great time! I surely wish I could drink heavy beers like that. I miss them. But, the older I get the less tolerant of them I become. They fill me up too fast, put me sleep and give me a hangover. It wasn't always like that, though. Do me a favor and have one for me. If I ever run across my favorite beer again, I'll have some regardless. www.ratebeer.com/beer/maisel39s-weisse-original/4560/

I was talking to the rep for them and he brought that bottle out. Only one he snuck with him. I was lucky he shared it with me. Normally dont like them, but this was smooth. I recommend tryin it.

The dark brown one was peanut butter stout. It got dumped out. Way too dark. 35 brewers there and we had maybe 25 of them. Stayed away from Coors, Firestone and a few others I am not fans of. Glasses were tiny so didnt get filled up. I was crashed at 730pm and woke with no hangover 😁

If I ever run across my favorite beer again, I'll have some regardless. www.ratebeer.com/beer/maisel39s-weisse-original/4560/To me the Bourbon barrels and the heavy beers from where I am beertender are sipping beers. All, taste great cold or warm. Some even work for cooking or adding to ice cream for a summer drink. The brewery close to me, being the acknowledged master of bourbon barrel aged beers also have brews with many uses. Yes, my daughter turned me into what she affectionately calls a beer snob. One who appreciates craft beers. One who can understand the time spent brewing them, the ingredients, most of which here are local, and decipher each ingredient. This is what makes me a great beertender at the brewery tap house I work at. I can give customers a sample and guide them in tasting each flavor of ingredients contained. Also promote the local farms where ingredients come from. When the brewery employees are present, always refer customers with specific questions that are beyond my knowledge to them. They love it. Our crew of brewers have never received this type if acknowledgment and referrals before. If I see a brewer in the tap house and have a customer ask a question I do not know the answer to, I will always refer to the expert. Their appreciation has reaped me may rewards such as receiving cases of my favorite dark beer that the bottling machine did not pour to specs. Some are 1/4" short. This can be drank cold or warm, mixed with ice cream or coffee. An imperial porter. also works great mixed with coffee. Very little beer taste, but has an AVP (alcohol content) of 9%. Learning all I can. Many of the tap house and brewery employees are also beginning to support my jewelry and lapidary business. They love the bottle charms. All about sharing with others and helping all out.

Looks like you had a great time. I think we have beerfests scheduled in the near future. I've never gone to one, but it might have to be a first. Good thing there's Uber.
The zipper pulls were a neat idea. That pet wood piece in the photo below them is pretty awesome. We got some smaller pieces of similar color when we went to Dobell's this year. It's pretty stuff.

What a great time you had, beer and rocks, my idea of a perfect day.
Loved your showcase pics, always a great way to get some new ideas and see some amazing work.
We have an annual craft beer festival in my town here in Aus, loads of brewers spread across dozens of venues around the city centre, very small sample glasses so you get a reasonable taste of it but aren't falling over at the end of the day. great crowd of people too, wandering around town chatting with strangers about beer very very pleasant.

I always enjoy seeing what people are doing I should of got a picture of the gentleman that was cabbing. He was easily in his 90's and just having a blast The best part of the beer crawls is talking beer to random strangers & people watching. Everyone for the most part is friendly and having a great time The glasses were small and I was close to falling over doesn't take me much. Cant drink like I use too

Trap shooting sounds fun to. I have not done that in years Until recently, I never really shot trap...only skeet and sporting clays. But, I just joined a trap shooting association, and I've done 3 shoots since. I'm liking the sport more than I thought I would.

On almost every weekend, March-November, there is at least one beer festival in WI. After all, the state has a reputation to uphold. Tap houses are also becoming very popular. 60-80 taps, all containing WI craft beers. I was recently fortunate to get a taste of a beer from Collective Arts in Ontario Canada. It was called GOSE. Contained Blackberry, Black Currants, Lemon Zest, Coriander and Himalayan Salt. Before you sick ICK, think about how those flavors could blend together. The post drink smell highlighted one flavor/scent. The first sip, swirled in my mouth, highlighted another. Then all the flavors blended into goodness. The after taste was equally awesome. Totally different than the previous tastes. Sorry... I am a beertender in a craft brewery, so I must be familiar with all the beers and explain their flavors to customers. To me drinking a craft beer is like being at a wine tasting.
I also would have seen the 90 year old gentleman cabbing. Age is just mind over matter. If one does not mind, it does not matter.

I love doing the demos at our show, faceting is fun but impossible to get in the zone what with chatting to everyone that stops to look, it's really just going through the motions until someone stops to chat, so lots of mistakes, off angles and crazy things happen but it doesn't matter, the demo stone is usually just a bit of Quartz. I have a series of dops made up to show how a faceted stone progresses anyway so if anyone wants a close look at a stone I grab one of the premade ones. Cabbing is a blast, again I have premade stones dopped up and sanded to almost finished so if someone is interested I can grab a dopped stone and show how it polishes, grinding and sanding parts of the demo are usually just to get me spare stones ready for a quick polish. My favourite stone for the demos would have to be Mookaite, wow colours, reasonably soft, easy to shape and sand, and takes a great polish.
