I too, have just purchased a new Lot-o from the Rock Shed. I am as concerned as you but after talking to Shawn at the Rock Shed, he said to go ahead and use it as much as possible for the duration of the warranty. I've only run it about a week now but have noticed that the shaft on both sides is very wobbly when the motor is turned off. No noise, just wobble. I'm concerned that this doesn't lead to another long list of motor problems. I can't afford to be buying new motors or new vibes as often as it sounds like these things are breaking down. With all respect to Shawn at Rock Shed, I think maybe he should consider dropping Lot-o from his inventory until they can assure him, and us, that the vibe is worthy of a purchase. If mine breaks down I don't know what I will do. I already have NO FAITH in Belt Inc. to repair the problem. From the posts, it sounds like they don't give a d____! I hope that everyone on this site will keep us posted on what repairs they have done and if the repairs are working. I bought this thing based on all the reviews that praised the results they achieved. That must have been in the "good ole days" of the Lot-o.

Jim I would, unfortunately, never consider buying a Lot-o. There is no way to justify spending $360 for something that will, most likely, break down and need hundreds of dollars in repairs in a few months. No amount be beautiful shine on a rock is worth that.

It may be worth it if I eat the cost of shipping it right back to the Rock Shed - that will be cheaper in the long run. I can wait for a UV-10 to become available. Has anyone had luck with a Lot-O bought in the last year or so??

dillonf - You have a very good question. I too wonder how many have been recently purchased and have not had a problem Lumberlegs, above, says he has. I hope for him that his good fortune holds out. I hope some more folks will reply with a yea or nae.

I hate to send this back to the Rock Shed at this point. It's not Shawn's fault that these are going bad. Belt Inc. should stand behind all of the malfunctions, if it's in or out of warranty. This has become too big a problem for them to hide behind a 30 day or 90 day warranty. I think that if ALL the dealers (Rock Shed, Kingsley North and all the others) would send their respective units back to Belt Inc. and tell them that they DO NOT want anymore of them until they can satisfy everyone that the units perform as they should and ALSO demand a one year or more warranty before they restock the item. Until Belt Inc. learns that there are other vibes out here that work they won't be selling any Lot-o's. The Lot-o may be a small part of their business but they're not doing us any favors to keep manufacturing and selling us a poor product. Cutting off all the money for this item may wake them up! If not, we won't be wasting our money, the dealers won't be avalanched with problems, and we all can find something that works for more than a year.

I suspect it's partially related to the diminishing motor quality. The motor that failed on my UV-18 had pressed metal inserts on both ends to house the bearings. For running balanced fan blades that's probably ok, put a counter weight on the shaft and all bets are off. The bearing ate right thru the pressed metal in about 3 or 4 months. I found two other old(better built) motors that I am saving for my 20" Vib Lap which should have motor failure in it's future. There is room on the 20 inch machine to do some sort of indirect drive to take the stress off the motor shaft, it's on the list!!

Well I got my Lot-O in about a week ago, and I decided to keep it. I got it affixed to two concrete blocks with gorilla glue. I'm gonna use it for polishing only until extra barrels become available. I'm gonna go back and use it to re-polish some stones I polished in my Lortone to see the difference. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend. We shall see how the motor holds up??? This new one I got does have the Fasco motor made in Mexico

Well poop. I think the motor on my BRAND NEW Lot-O is toast. Sitting here watching TV and suddenly a loud ugly noise from the garage followed by silence where a tumbler should be. I go out there and the motor is frozen and buzzing and won't restart after unplugging and plugging back a few times. I'll post more tomorrow but I have this sinking feeling... I to purchased a Lot-o-tumbler in July and now in December the motor locked up. Was able to test for continuity and found I can measure 35 ohm of resistance. Which means one of the windings is grounded or broke. The only way you can fix the problem is to replace the motor. Currently waiting on an answer on availability or warranty of new motor. I really think after spending over $300.00 they should replace the motor for free, since I only used it for 5 months. Scott Graham

I to have a lot o tumble that the motor stop working.
I check the capacitor which was good. I check the incoming voltage which was good.
But when I check the motor for continuity I found 35 ohms of resistance, which means one of the windings has a ground or is broke.
Currently waiting on an answer about warranty or replacement.
I would after paying over $300.00 that the motor would have at least a one year warranty.
I would say for the 5 months that it ran I was very happy with the results.
