Annual cookie marathon with my daughter and grandson. The circa 2002 cookie press was not working well, so I pulled out my mom’s 1960’s Mirro cookie press. It worked great. We also used some cookie cutters from my childhood. I think these are from the 1950’s to 1960’s. When the gingerbread dough had too much flour in it from rolling, my daughter used the last of it to make some Christmas tree ornaments. AJ is the King of Sprinkles. We didn’t have time to decorate all of them, but thought some might enjoy seeing. My daughter decorated more last night. Cookies made were traditional sugar cookies, stained glass cookies, spritz and my daughters gingerbread cookie recipe. The stained glass cookies have raspberry preserves and orange marmalade in them. The gingerbreead ones are awesome. Imagine a texture half way between a cookie and a brownie. AJ looks like he's having a ball, Beth! Those old cookie presses are the best. I think one of my sisters has my mom's old one. The plastic ones are pretty worthless. Any chance your daughter would be will to share her gingerbread recipe? I agree on the old cookie presses. Will ask my daughter for the recipe.

I have never made gingerbread and a tried and true recipe is better than guessing and pulling one off the internet!

I have to share this photo. I am in the process of going through thousands of photos, newspaper clippings, memorial cards, dance cards/programs and documents that my ancestors saved. Scanning, restoring, adding ID info. Saving to my external hard drive and posting on various web pages. My Gramps established Wildwood Resort in the late 1920’s-30’s. He built, 8 cabins, 8 out houses, 12 docks, many boats, community ice house, several storage sheds and a main residence with what my mom called a deluxe out house. He also was in charge of building the road with a little survey help from his future FIL. I love this photo.

miketI’ve always thought snow was pretty to see, or visit occasionally, but not to live in. Brrrrrr!! I love the 80 degree weather.

First picture was taken this morning...it was blowing more than snowing. It has to be 60 mph winds. It started snowing more this evening...with the wind still howling. I think miket is getting more snow out of this system than we are! The second picture of the window reminds me of one of those "sand pictures" I remember when I was a kid.

miket No way I could like your post. There is only supposed to be 6-12" of snow,, winds up to 40 MPH and up to .25" of ice by me. At least the powers that be did not schedule me for work on Wednesday and Thursday. Stay safe.

That reminds me, I have to get some insulated hose bib covers to keep from freezing up. There's supposed to be a serious cold wave coming next week.

The one thing I do like is that we'll turn the big hills into sledding runs and tunnels for our grandson. Of course I'll get pic and videos! 😁

Feeling rather lucky right now. My power has been briefly off twice so far. Just checked the outage map and discovered why. The outage marker on the left is my neighbor, across the road from me. My high power flashlight is with me at all times and fully charged. Coffee is made and some in my thermos. A couple gallons of water in containers. As of yesterday PM, there was about .2” of ice on everything and freezing rain. Now there is about 6-8” of snow on top of that and heavy snow/winds. Snow is expected to stop later this AM. At least I have no where to go today.
