Maybe 15 years ago after hours sifting thru Wikipedia on the biggest this and the biggest that, I came across this website that had listed, in their opinion, the top 100 waterfalls in America. I can't remember what the name of that site was and can't seem to find it again, but I have to imagine this was there somewhere on the list. Wallace Falls State Park, WA

I always have some petunias by my front door. Just love the smell of them and watching insects on them. Usually try new colors each year. The solid maroon ones that match this one are not in bloom right now. This year I also planted some dwarf snapdragons. This color is my favorite of the bunch so far.

It was another weekend of bicycle races. This time in LaCrosse. AJ won a medal in Jr. Division. His Dad somehow ended up on the podium in his race. He almost dropped out, as the course was very challenging. Waiting to start. Checking out the medal. After the race, AJ ditched his bike to do some rock climbing.

Another new variety of Petunia. This was labeled as a dwarf, yellow. It is sort of a double. About the size of a quarter. It is so unusual and cute. When I was coming back from the barn this AM, there was a Hummer by it. I quickly walked away and went in the house later. Also, a couple of old fashioned Peonies. My other bush was destroyed by contractors, but this one is doing great. There are now about 12 buds on it.

Last year I was purchasing quarts of small tomatoes from Turners Market. This year I am growing my own. Yesterday I purchased a Blue Cream tomato, Black Krim tomato and Japanese Black Trifele tomato. They are non traditional colors and taste great. Got a few others earlier this year. The Black Krim is a larger tomato. The others smaller. Added a few other tomato and pepper plants. Has anyone grown these varieties? I am hoping enough are ripe by the end of July to take to the family reunion.

One more photo. I love this one of my SIL's and AJ's matching bicycles. My daughters "old" 4 month old bicycle is on the bike rack. She is still getting used to the bicycle she won in a raffle last month.

A set of 4 points for a friend and the straightened river cane they will be mounted on. A nice set of points Rick.
But I wonder the technique of straightening the river cane ?
Looks like maybe heat ?
Is there a bow in the making as well ?

Thanks Patty. I use a heat gun to get the bends in the (dry) river cane charring hot, some use a small propane burner/torch. The bends are usually at the section joints. Using thick leather gloves, and holding either side of the river cane, bend it a little more in the same direction that it is going which makes a larger bend - this actually keeps it from snapping. At this point, bend it back the other opposite direction and straighten it out. Next, move to a cooler section away from the area that you just bent and repeat the process there. You have to let sections you just worked on cool and set up before bending next to them. I won't be making him a bow or quiver and he has the arrows now. It's been quite awhile since I made any arrows and now I remember why. I spent entirely too much time on the project. My friend bought the four arrows and three knives from me recently. He is putting them in a shadow box for himself except for one of the knives. His son in law, who has terminal cancer, collected arrowheads for years. He is going to give him one of my stone knives to add to his collection before he passes. His collection is going to be passed along as a family heirloom.
