I was given this today at work. It was painted by the very talented, 15 year old daughter of friends/regular customers.
When I found Sierra was no longer alive, this rock was between her paws. Her last rock gift to me.
I was very honored that Vanessa eagerly accepted my request to paint Sierra on the rock. She often comes to O'so with her parents, so I have known her for about 5 years.
A perfect tribute, what an awesome way to help remember your puppers.

We went fishing to a place that my Dad had taken me in Wyoming since I was a kid, then my kids went when they were growing up. A trip in remembrance of him I suppose... Thought I'd share a picture of myself, my kids and my grandson.

This trip had been on the bucket list for a long time.
So I stayed on I-75 in Valdosta 40 miles west of the hurricane track about 3.5 hours from home. The eye was to cross I-75 from the south at 10:00am the next morning about 40 miles east of Valdosta at the I-75/Hwy 129 exit. The whole event should last about 1.5 hours. It was sorta planned.
Left the hotel at 9am to "meet the eye". The first 15 miles the wind was from the north at about 80-90mph which is the west wall of the eye which rotates counterclockwise. The trees were beginning to fall to the south on the west bound lanes of I-75(I was on the eastbound side). At 15-25 miles of 40 miles the wind started to change from the north to the northeast to dead east, cross winds made it tricky to steer. Travelling west on I-75 I encountered the top of the eye at 25 miles to 35 miles of the 40 miles, wind blowing hard from the east at 100-110mph directly into the direction of travel. These were the highest winds. About every billboard held up with telephone poles had blown down to the west cracking the 8-10 telephone pole supports about 4 feet above ground. If these were cross winds the vehicle would have been a challenge to keep on the 3 lanes of I-75 eastbound lanes. The wind began to shift from out of the east to out of the south as the east side of the eye wall was reached. But there was a calm for about 10 minutes and the clouds had sun peeking thru which was the eye. Exiting on Hwy 129 travelling south the southerly winds became headwinds. Travelling down Hwy 129 to the south I turned the vehicle around after .5 miles and headed back to the Hwy 129 bridge and took this video, estimating the wind at 80 to 90mph with 10 second long higher gusts(about half way thru the video came a gust). The eye continued north and east and all calmed quickly. Looked to be about 15% to 20% of the trees had blown over heading south on Hwy 129. This highway had a wide shoulder so that only the tallest trees fell over both lanes. Arrived back to hotel at Valdosta about 3pm and the power was out so I had to drive back home.
Low tide and eyewall replacement had to save a few.

Nice, lake Marie is beautiful. The whole area is...we actually stopped at the lake but there were more people there than I had ever seen there before.
One more picture from the trip. We took some of my Dad's ashes to Saratoga lake- unfortunately, they killed off the lake this year and the fishing was non-existent. For at least 30 years we camped, water skied and fished there and I don't believe I've ever seen so few people (or fish!) on Labor Day weekend. Fortunately, it made us explore the area. We fished a little at Seminoe reservoir, Miracle Mile, and this nice little stretch of the North Platte River. So peaceful!

Thunder69 - I have had that yummy pet wood you gave me decorating the sitting area out on the front porch. I believe your brother was with you and you guys had been in Dakota or Montana. Many visitors have admired it as it was so real looking and well preserved.
