Thanks Tela! I too REALLY like that last one. It's a low dome compared to most of my cabs. I like the second and third ones the best. The third one is really an "in your face" explosion of color and pattern (I think it looks like an atomic mushroom cloud)...but the second one has some amazing druzy under the surface. I tried for quite awhile to get a better picture of it, but my phone camera won't pick it up adequately. You can make it out in the picture I posted though. ETA - Only three out of the five are teardrops...so I'm branching out on shapes! LOL Careful- your passion is showing.
You know I was kidding about the tearsdrops, but I did notice that you threw a few others in... LOL!
With so many teardrop shapes, I'm just going through an artist's "melancholy" phase! LOL Maybe when I get a new 80 grit disk, it'll be easier to do shapes with the straight edges...but until then, I'll stick the my "go-to" shapes! LOL

LOL! Melancholy Teardrops... that HAS to have been a Goth band from the 80s. LOL!

I totally agree! There was something about the way Johnny sang that song...such that you could feel the "hurt" like no other could make you feel!

True story: Back in the day, I was Punk Rock. One of the best places to go for good music was- believe it or not- the VFW! I don't know why, but it was the coolest place. I broke my high heel sneaker doing the Pogo to Johnny Cash. Fun times.

That just made my night! Not that you broke your shoe...just that you were Punk Rock...not at ALL what I would have guessed! *Of course, I was a "Preppy" back in the day...something I'm NOWHERE close to now! LOL

Neo closed at 3 a.m. and then down the street to Smartbar - it closed at 5, I think. Neo closed down in 2015. Smart Bar is still there, but not the same.

I went to 2 clubs that I can't remember the names of. Not CBGB, but in the same neighborhood. I never made it to CBGB. No idea why. Just never did. I saw the A's at one. Really awesome show. I had their record, too. They were a Jersey band and never got national play, but they were good. I think they are on YT.
I went to a local bar, the Red Baron. It was a dive, but we usually could lock the doors and buy a keg and have the stage to ourselves. The owners were really cool.

Alright, brag time… I got to see the Dead Kennedy’s on their last tour. Great show at UC Davis, with a local favorite… 7 Seconds.
As for goth, Siouxsie and the Banshees were pretty damn good at the first Lollapalooza.
Butthole Surfers were there too, but seeing some of their videos, I think they were asked to tame it down. No shotguns or gasoline-filled flaming cymbals. NIN also were there.

LOL Based on some of the videos that rockjunquie and hummingbirdstones have liked in the music thread, I had an inkling that there was a “history” there. I was mostly a metalhead in the 80s, but some of my friends were hardcore fans and took me to shows. Bands like Metallica really helped break down the barriers between metal and punk. Speking of which, I got to party with Metallica and Primus about a year before Frizzle Fry came out. It was after a Primus show in a high school gym. Got free tix from a friend’s friend who was producing them. Have to admit to not fully appreciating them at the time, as we were expecting to see the other band this guy was producing, which was reggae. It took a little time to adjust my expectations. What I remember most was a banner with a giant mosquito that read, “we’re Primus and we suck.”

A masterpiece, sung by someone who had experienced both failure and redemption in life. Right!?! His voice did start suffering at the later stages in his life...which worked perfectly for this particular song. The man knew the hard roads in life, that's for sure! Sorry about the hijack, jasoninsd! Now back to Teepees .... Ummm...no no no...and no! As far as any of the threads I start, there's no such thing as being hijacked. I don't follow the normal forum decorum! (I'm a poet and didn't know it!) I believe threads are conversation starters...and with every good conversation, there is that inevitable sidetrack..."Oh, that reminds me..." I love the side conversations...it's part of the joy of getting to know other people. Otherwise, how would I have ever known you and Tela were into what you were!

Oh, good. In that case, we can open up the debate (which actually circles back to the cab shapes a little...) are they goth or emo?
I say emo, as goth would be more likely to be black and represent witchcraft, so definitely obsidian, with shapes like a heptagram (fairy star), Celtic knot, Hecate's wheel or one of the Elemental symbols. Engraving or carving would probably be needed.
