Oh, good. In that case, we can open up the debate (which actually circles back to the cab shapes a little...) are they goth or emo? I say emo, as goth would be more likely to be black and represent witchcraft, so definitely obsidian, with shapes like a heptagram (fairy star), Celtic knot, Hecate's wheel or one of the Elemental symbols. Engraving or carving would probably be needed. I think you'd be correct with the "emo" reference! LOL Not to be confused with the actor Emo Philips! LOL So… what shape(s) for Sreamo?

Nice! Those are beautifully polished. I would say better than a vibe lap, even.

Here's some Teepee Canyon Agate nodules that I face polished on my new cabbing machine. There's a couple Fairburn Agates in the foreground... I did a lot of that when I got my cabbing machine. Once I got seriously interested in using the machine to make cabs, I regretted severely dulling my Galaxy wheels on specimen. If you start with fully shaped preforms, the 80 grit galaxy wheel will last a good long time. If you grind a bunch of big hard specimen with it (like I did), and use it to grind preforms after the trim saw (did that too), and maybe grind a few tumbles on it as well (yep), you can wear out the 80 grit Galaxy in a few months. Possible solutions? 1. Use and abuse your 80 grit Galaxy, and when it wears out, buy an 80 grit sintered from Kingsley for $180. It should last at least 10X a long as the 80 Galaxy wheel if used for cabs and to grind on tumbles / specimen. It should last a lifetime if used only to grind domes on preforms. 2. Use a flat lap with hard discs for the 80 through 1200 grit grinding on specimen, then finish with the 1200 and 3000 Nova wheels. I get an amazing polish this way. 3. If you don't want a flat face, buy a cheap 6" x 1" 60 grit wheel on Amazon for about $40 and use that to grind the hell out of big specimen. I got one and it's held up surprisingly well for such a cheap wheel. I've probably used it for at least 20 or 30 hours of grinding on tumbles, and it still grinds faster than my 80 grit sintered wheel. (You do need an extra spacer with a 1" wide wheel). Please don't take this as a criticism. It's your machine and you can do with it whatever you damn well please. I used mine just like you are doing, and I had a lot of fun in the process. But soon enough, I regretted killing my 80 grit Galaxy wheel and having to spend more money only a few months after spending more than $2k on the Genie. Sweet agates, by the way. Thanks for chiming in on this my friend! As I was doing this yesterday, I was wondering just how much this would affect the wheels. I'm really glad you said something. I figure yesterday was just "breaking in" the wheels a little better...but anymore might be breaking them! LOL I don't get butt-hurt when it comes to people giving opinions and/or advice. Sometimes I take the advice to heart...sometimes I take it with a grain of salt. In this case, it'll definitely be taken to heart. I like your "option 2"...and since I have a new 80 grit disk for the flat lap showing up today (ordered before I made the final decision on the cabbing machine), I'll use that to grind the crap out of whatever "specimens" I have left. Thankfully Teepee Canyon Agate isn't all that hard compared to a Mexican Lace...so I can't imagine I did much wearing down of anything yesterday...but I'll know later today.

Really nice- too bad you aren't enjoying your new toy... I know right! LOL I didn't make any cabs with it yesterday. I just messed around with face polishing. So, this morning at 6:43 I got back to making cabs! LOL

I'm going to delete my prior post as to not clog up this TP Canyon thread with a little info I probably should have send you in a message. I will delete this post as well once you see it. Please don't...it's good information to have out there. There's no "clogging" any thread I create. It's a conversation that took a well-needed sidetrack for a minute or two.

It's been awhile since I've had a reason to bump this thread!! Went to Teepee Canyon with holajonathan this last week. I found this amazing beauty!! I do believe it's pretty rare to find a Teepee Canyon Agate with Amethyst!! The nodule split right in half as I was trying to knock off some bedrock off the nodule! To bad it's cursed...

I started slabbing rocks. My wife came out and was pretty ticked off at me. Once I told her it was HER father who wanted to see the slices, then it was "ok"! LOL I'm going to blame him every time from now on! LOL

That Teepee is SO cool! You're so lucky to have found it. Definitely a treasure that gets displayed.
