From an old mica pegmatite, I have a pound or so of scorzalite (looks sort of similar to sodalite), I am thinking “is that the rarest?” I am not sure, I don’t have enough coffee in my blood yet.

Don't know about rarity but these cabs came from a single piece I found many years ago on a hounding trip to Idaho's Pahsimeroi Valley (yes, such a place exists!) with my beloved grandfather. It was the only such trip we ever took together and the stones have great meaning for me. The piece was float and I've never seen any stones like it since. Sorry for the bad image but it was a quickie I took just now.

Just had to get some boxes and other crap pulled together. I’m out of town this week on a business trip, and Easter etc.. got in the way this weekend. Randomly sometime soon something will show up. I had the dogs pick the material, so if your daughter doesn’t like it, tell her to blame them 😂

Rarest I've ever found was a white opal about the size of my thumb back in the late 70's in the Mojave Desert California. I was around 7 or 8 at the time so definitely not a large rock.
I gave it to my dad who made jewelry, his face lit up like a kid at Christmas seeing a tree loaded with presents. He cut & polished for a few days, made a really nice sterling silver ring to set it in, & sold it about a week later. No idea what he got for it.

He made & sold a LOT of Turquoise & Silver jewelry - my mom still has a bracelet he made. That was his primary source of income in those days, and I was too young to care...
