Wait wait wait...at some point there has to be a differentiating factor between gardening...and farming! Whatever that is, I think you crossed over into the latter category... LOL Great looking patch of veggies!

Bravura Cabochon Designs I noticed the Basil plants mixed in with cucumbers(?). Are they there for a reason and provide some benefit to the vines as they grow? or do you just like Pesto? Henry

I sort of like to garden. I used to have more of a green thumb, but kinda lost it these last couple years. My garden is doing alright this year, some strawberries both red and pineapple (white variety). I do go huckleberry picking "in the wild" during the summer (almost in season!) and go cherry, peach, and pumpkin picking up on greenbluff which is our local farm area.

AzRockGeek - I'm dying to know how the pickles turned out...they look delicious! Did you like the flavor when they were done?

The pickles have been marinating in the brine for the last month, my wife made sure we are safe from vampires on this batch. Very garlicky!! Hmmmm We are going to head to the a farmers market shortly and see if they have any baby cucumbers in stock and try a jalapeno infusion for the next batch. The hatch chili's are just coming out, maybe try them as well.

It takes me a bit to get going, some years I just never get caught up with everything and the garden goes wild. my sources are saying this years huckleberry season is going to be prolific up there, I hope you’re able to get out there and make a good haul. Yeah, I've been there. Good to hear it! I know of some "special" spots that produce a TON of them. I've been picking at one spot for a couple years now, and we always get a good haul by the end of the season. I love huckleberry pancakes. Thank you.

RWA3006 The quality of your produce looks absolutely top notch, well done! Well, I guess I could have shown the scrubby little runts I've produced but that's not as fun. Funny story... I've put a fair bit of coin and effort into making extremely good soil, plus have carefully studied how to do a good garden. I didn't divulge these factoids to my buddy's daughter in law and managed to tempt her into making a bet with me that her garden would outdo mine. The loser would have to address the winner as "your eminence" till next garden season... she won't make that mistake again.

I love to garden. Mainly because I hate buying chemical laden produce in the stores. I decided not to do a garden and turn the plot into our apiaryso this year we only have a few peppers and 1 cherry tomato plant. The season is so far behind and I still have no harvest.
Those pickles look amazing

In my gardening efforts I've tried to find varieties of plants that would yield the best produce, so I've done some experimenting. I'd be interested in hearing if others have found exceptional species that stand out above other varieties.
Some of the best results I've gotten have come from Honeycrisp apples, Canadian Harmony peaches, Fantasia nectarines, Tickled Pink grapes, #26 Burpless cucumbers, Shinseiki pears, Sun Sugar tomatoes. I could go on but these varieties are some of the best standouts in my garden. What have you guys found to be awesome?

My sister and I grew up helping prepare, plant, maintain, harvest, and preserve the garden products. We discussed the reason for still having our own gardens now that we are both retired. Decided we did it for so long it has become instinct, not conscious decision, but imprinted in our minds. Everything is so much better than truck ripened store bought.

Ain’t vuggin, great looking garden. It’s a beauty. I’ve got a big garden, tad smaller then yours. Keep up the good work. You organic? I use zero chemicals or pesticides. Great job!

I was only able to do it a few times when I lived in Montana. There are no huckleberries in Arizona unfortunately.

I think I'm going to live in Washington for the rest of my life. I'd love to retire to Montana though.

I sure miss gardening but my mom feeds the birds and bunnies so there is no way to have a garden here. I have the cactus garden fenced off but the javelina think it's their own private retreat.

Montana was nice when I lived there but I'm sure things have changed. That's where a lot of my family retired to, and I love the beauty of it. Maybe we'll see. I've got a lot of years until I can even start thinking about moving there.
