Update: This item is now SOLD. Thank you. This is a new, still in the factory sealed box, Dayton 4rpm Gear Motor - model # 3M098. This is the motor that was used on the power feed systems on most brands of 10" and 12" automatic powerfeed saws produced over the last twenty-five years, up until the last year or two due to the fact that Dayton has now discontinued the production of this motor. This motor will also work on the Lortone 14" Panther saw to slow down the feed rate (I use on just like it on mine). The first photo is a stock photo and the last photo image is an illustration showing the specs for this motor. The three photos of the factory sealed box contains the new motor that the buyer will receive. The price is $65.00 plus $13.60 shipping via a USPS medium flat rate box anywhere in the U.S.. If interested in purchasing then private message me your email address and I will send you a Pay Pal invoice. Larry C.

This is an unused Poly Arbor by Poly Products of Monrovia, Calif. This arbor was part of that large stash of new-old-stock Poly Arbor products I purchased out of the estate of a deceased machinist/lapidaryist a few years ago that some of you long time RTH members may remember. This model Poly Arbor is ideal to use for a Flat Lap as the 1/2" diameter threaded arbor will accommodate the standard commercial 1/2" bored diamond grinding, sanding and polishing laps. The unit measures 8-1/2" overall in length and is 4" in diameter at the cast mounting ring. The mounting holes are spaced 2-1/8" center-to-center. The threaded arbor end is 1/2" in diameter and the keyed arbor shaft is 5/8" in diameter. Also this arbor has 1-3/4" diameter machined flange & flange washer. General Information About Poly Arbor Products (from previous listings) For four decades Poly Products made quality arbors for use in lapidary and other craftsmen's work. Additionally, their various arbor bearing housings and arbor shafts were utilized by other brands of lapidary equipment makers including but not limited to some models of Frantom slab saws, and Crown Diamond lapidary products. Poly Arbor Products were also a favorite among homemade equipment builders for lapidary, wood working, glass grinding, and machinist work.
Poly Arbor Products were originally manufactured in Pasadena, California in the 1940s and later moved to Monrovia, California (also at some point they had a facility in Venice, California). Sometime around the late 1970s the company was acquired by Raytech Industries who then moved the manufacturing of the Poly Arbor products to Connecticut. I have yet been unable to verify it but I believe that production of the Poly Arbor Products ceased in the late 1980s which apparently was around the time that Lyman Products acquired Raytech Industries. The price of this arbor is $48.00 plus $13.60 shipping via USPS medium flat rate box anywhere in the U.S.. If interested in purchasing then private message me your email address and I will send you a Pay Pal invoice. Larry C.

This item is now SOLD. Thank you. This is a used steel Tumbling Barrel with a rubber liner. I believe that it is considered a 6 lb barrel. It's outside diameter measures 9-3/8" and it is 5" wide when including the length of the bolts and wing nuts. I bought this barrel and some other lapidary equipment from a local estate liquidator last winter. I don't have a working tumbler base for these larger diameter barrels so don't need it. Judging from the condition of the barrel liner it does not appear to have had a lot of use from the previous owner. The reddish/brown color around the edges of the rubber appears to be red rouge pre-polish residue. The price is $35.00 plus $18.70 shipping in a USPS large flat rate priority box anywhere in the U.S.. If you would like to purchase this tumbler barrel then private message me your email address and I will send you a Pay Pal invoice. Larry C.

when you only have small game trails in your work shop its time to de clutter first of many boxes i thought i would offer here first med box full of endcuts thick slabs pieces and such makes good tumbling rough 40.00 to your door in the states I know exactly what you mean. I've been trying to do the same thing. My shop buildings are so jammed up right now that I can't saw, facet, cab, use my wood working equipment or burn my kiln without a major rearranging (i.e. displacing). My credo used to be, "One can never have too much stuff - One can only not have enough space". But I've changed my mind...one can. and I do have too much stuff! Every time I try to do any task in one of the buildings it's starting to feel like I'm rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. So the purge continues.... Larry C.

I need the space in my shop so I've reduced the last seven remaining flat rate box lots of lapidary rough I listed on eBay a couple of weeks ago to 1$ per pound plus shipping. As of this posting there are still two boxes of Grave Yard Point Plume Agate, two boxes of Petrified Wood (one Arizona Agatized Wood and one lot of assorted woods), one box of green Aventurine, and one lot of Tick Canyon Howlite. If you are interested in viewing or purchasing these lots you may do so at the following link: tinyurl.com/y5hfzn55And if for some reason the link doesn't work with your device then you can do a seller search for QuailRiver in eBay's advanced search field. Thank you for looking! Larry C.

Make sure that your blade isn't bent. A bent or cupped blade may not perform well or sometimes not at all once the cut gets to a certain depth into the blade. And if the shipper doesn't know how, or care enough, to package a diamond blade properly for shipping then the blade can easily get bent in shipping. And even a slight bend can be a big problem.

Hi! I assume you sold out already because I can't find anything from you on ebay. Is that right? Hello, There are still 10 lots left. Your member info location is shown as Canada so that is probably why you can't see them. International medium flat rate box shipping is limited to 20 lbs and shipping cost alone would be $51.55 for a medium flat rate box shipped to Canada. Most of the lots I had listed were over 20 pounds and with international shipping costs being what they are I didn't list these lots as international listings. But thank you for your interest just the same! Larry C.

If you have a local industrial supply company check and see if they have rolls of neoprene rubber in stock. Our local store has 3' wide rolls that they will sell cuts from by the linear foot for around $1 per square foot (the last time I purchased). I've cut several gaskets for saws and one for a tumbler from this material and they have all worked well.

I've acquired several old saws over the years with the oil/rock sludge in varying degrees of having dried. And as long as the oil sludge has not completely dried then a good soaking of WD-40 will usually soften it up and start dissolving it. I buy WD-40 in a gallon can and pour it into a large spritzer type cleaning bottle to use to use to spray it on the gunked up saw parts. The WD-40 aerosol cans put too much WD-40 in the air and are much more expensive in the long run than buying it by the gallon and using a spritzer bottle.
Wear nitrile or neoprene gloves. Do small areas at at time. Soak the surface to be cleaned down good with WD-40 and let it sit a few minutes. Then I use a medium grade steel wool to help lift the sludge from the flat surfaces and a harbor freight disposable steel wire brush for the threaded feed rod and to get in the corners and nooks. Keep the surface of the area you're cleaning wet with WD-40 while cleaning. After getting all of the oil gunk pretty much dissolved then WD-40 and a terrycloth rag does a nice job finishing up.

Hello QuailRiver. The material looks great! Could you happen to be able to tell me what kind of rock that is, which is green color which white and brown going through it, from the very first photo? I think I found some rock from California which has the same exact character as this, but don't know. I just call it Chert. Hi Bill, The green, red and white material in the top left photo is Jasper from India. There is a lot of Jasper found in California too. Larry C.

The photo below is what the original configuration of wheels, spacers, and stop collars looked like on the arbor of a Beacon Star 6" "Holiday Combo" model I used to have. The expando drum was original to that model but is not shown in my photo. Hope this helps. Larry C. yeah, that's great. I think I ended up with just about the same thing, cut a couple custom spacers, and must have assembled/dis a couple dozen times to get every thing lined up. It looks like they tossed out the locking hub on the bearing on the right (or probably used it as the stop collar on the left of the wheels)? so that bearing is just floating on the shaft? Everything is thenl tightened down by the nut on the right. Seems like most shafts get damaged by a suspect bearing getting stiff and wearing, so I put a lock hub on there, locked it down after temporarily tightening things.
The saw blade has to fit the table, and the collar is dictated by a divot in the shaft, so combined length of the wheels, spacers/hubs is already determined then... of course they need to line up with the water outlets...
Two diamond wheels, and expando and a polishing plate on the end, seems like a pretty ideal unit. Thanks for the effort, hopefully the next person with find this. did they originally have some kind of 'material' on the brass splash guards, or was it just the brass?
Only the left bearing had stop collars. The right bearing did not. So you line up the saw blade in the saw blade slot and then tighten the left bearing's stop collars to keep the saw blade in position. Then tighten the arbor nut on the right end of the wheel assembly. It was designed this way so that when the right arbor shaft nut is tightened it tightens up all of the wheels/spacers without moving the blade. The original splash guards were aluminum. They may have had rubber or cork guards on the edges originally but I do not remember for sure. The aluminum splash guards distance from the wheels could be adjusted by thumb screws that were threaded through holes in the front of the housing like so: Larry C.

Trying to get all the spacings right from the trim saw blade to bearing directions, flange mounting points etc so the wheels also line up with the drippers... I think the spacers are mostly original, but certainly didn't come with diamonds & an expando back in the day...
Anyway, if you have one, and can shoot me a picture looking in the front, that would be grand. Probably just turn down some more custom spacers if I can find my thick pvc... The photo below is what the original configuration of wheels, spacers, and stop collars looked like on the arbor of a Beacon Star 6" "Holiday Combo" model I used to have. The expando drum was original to that model but is not shown in my photo. Hope this helps. Larry C.
