Glad to hear Bob is home. The phone must have been very annoying. Hope he told someone about it. Thanks, Beth. RE, the phone. Knowing him, he probably didn't say anything. He just wanted to get the heck out-of-there this morning! He did tell the nurse that the clock on the wall in front of his bed hadn't been turned back yet. She said it was because the clock was up high on the wall, and hard to access. So they're just going to leave it that way? There's just yet another reason for the govt to leave the damn time in one place! The nurse pointed out another clock on the wall with the correct time. Could that be confusing? You bet!

Holy Smokes!! I can't believe he missed that call! I bet Amar was calling him to let him know his car warranty was getting ready to expire! Man...I wish Bob could have talked with him!! It sounds like everything went so well with the surgery, and Bob didn't get any BEEF from the surgeons...oh wait...I guess he DID get some! Glad to hear he's back home...safe and sound!!

All right, Mr. Busybody, I have been cognizant of Bob's heart condition for a few years now. Believe me, I have been careful to not cause too much elation that I would instill in him a heart attack, lol. And another news flash, we live in a three bedroom home. Just the two of us. He used to snore to beat the band, before we even moved to this house. If I wanted to get ANY sleep, the only way to do it was to sleep in separate bedrooms. He does not snore so loudly now as he used to, but we still sleep in separate bedrooms. You don't need to stay in one bed all night, you know, Jason? Just have your conjugal visit, then go to your own room to get some sleep, lol. Am I being too frank here? We have had dinner, Bob requested rolled tacos from El Puerto, a really good local Mexican restaurant. Have you ever heard the saying, "You buy, I'll fly?" It seems I usually end up doing both, and tonight was no different. I both picked up and paid for the meal, lol. We've been eating food from this restaurant for years, I can't believe how much the prices $$$ have gone up. But I don't blame the owners, that's just the way it is. Thanks, Joe. Bob and I were both out on the patio, online on our phones, with headphones on (watching news, YouTube videos, whatever. ) I came in the house for a minute to get a heavier jacket. I'll go back out for another hour or so, then I'll call it. Another lovely day in Paradise!! Tonight, I am going to put my ear to Bob's chest, listen to his heart and see what it sounds like now, without the aortic valve crashing! Should be trippy!

Now that Bob is home, I suspect you will both sleep a lot better. Welcome home! Thank you, Pat! Great to be snug as bugs in a rug at home, where we can let it all hang out, lol. Yes, sleep will be welcomed and wonderful tonight. Bob was not able to take his melatonin sleep gummies last night in the hospital, so sleep mostly eluded him. jasoninsd , I think the cold weather last night played a part in keeping the owls quiet. I did hear them hooting briefly, earlier, around seven pm when I went over to the neighbor's for a few hours. Nothing later, though hmm. Good! . Hope they stay silent tonight. Too cold to keep the fan on in my room for white noise.

And I never said you didn't...I just hinted maybe now wasn't the time! LOL I actually know a lot of couples who sleep in separate bedrooms...and most are due to snoring issues. My wife and I still sleep in the same bedroom...but years ago I began wearing ear plugs while I sleep. There's way too many noises coming from my wife and my dog during the night which the fan won't drown out for me to get any sleep. (And yes...whatever noises you're imagining I'm referring to...you're right! LOL) I'm jealous of the meal you guys had tonight! I wish we had a good Mexican restaurant in town. There's tons of them...but none of them are any good. Many of the meals at most of the restaurants have a "tinny" taste to the food...which tells me it's all from a can and there's nothing authentic about it. There is a new one that opened up...and I have high hopes for that one...but have yet to try it. I'm also envying the time on the patio this evening! It's 17 degrees here right now...not so pleasant for patio sitting! LOL You made me smile when I pictured you listening to Bob's heart! I've seen a couple videos lately where young children who have been heart recipients are met by the donors parents who listen to the beating heart of their donor child. Chokes me up every time I see those...

It is better than not getting any sleep, but not by much. I haven't had to use them for some time, but I keep some on my nightstand for when the AH neighbor that lives in his car, in front of his mom's house across the street, gets carried away listening to his gutter languaged ghetto crap in the middle of the night at high volume. Or slamming his car doors. This guy is a piece of work, going on 34 years old, and he prides himself on never holding a job in his entire life. He has sponged off his mom his whole life, she has washed her hands of him. She has kicked him out numerous times, but she keeps letting him come back. Although the last time he came back (after moving to TX to live with his GF and her father for a couple years - it was pure bliss with him gone, but mom allowed him to come back) she hasn't let him sleep in the house, guess that's her way of denying the situation. So he sleeps in his white Mercedes-Benz coupe, which he bought with an accident settlement, parked on the street, facing the wrong direction, in front of her house. He is a total POS. When it gets cold, like it did the other night, I gleefully think of him freezing his ass off in his car, lol. ANYWAY, have not heard the owls in a couple nights, so there's that. Before going to bed tonight about a half hour ago, I listened to Bob's chest and his heart with new valve. It was awesome! Now it just has a rhythmic beat to it, no clunking. Before the surgery, they had told him they would install a temporary pacemaker, for just during the surgery, then take it out. But they did not need to do that. He has been in high spirits today, and feeling well. It will be a huge improvement to his quality of life. Now I need to slowly get him out walking. They said that is the best exercise for him right now.

I don't know why...but I still get amazed when I see someone who has absolutely no regard for anyone other than themselves...you know...pretty much just an oxygen waster for the rest of us. That's really awesome about the sounds of Bob's heart! Thumpity-thump-thump-thumpity-thump...ad infinitum!

I'm okay with that too, jamesp . But mostly, I'd say it is give and take, 50/50. Equals, no winners, no losers. We don't enter gender wars. Me and her get along fine that way. Neither tries to elevate one over the other. I do tease her about coming from the poorer side of the tracks where the easier girls live. That stirs the pot...

James, leave it to you to do that (stir the pot), lol. It seems I remember a story you related some time back about being on the roof of your home when you were building it. Something about Denise and a shotgun?? LOL. Don't recall the details. I let Bob sleep in until he was ready to get up this morning. Not because I thought he needed more sleep, but because it was cold again this am! Thermometer on the patio said it got down to 45 degrees last night (62 inside the house). I realize that is not cold by most of your standards, but it is cold enough for us. The heater kicked on a few times, starting around 6. Our home was built in 1961, and let's just say back then they didn't use high tech insulation, etc, when building it. Doors and windows leak, no newfangled double pane windows here. We have not taken the time and $$$ to seal it up. But the mortgage was paid off on it years ago, YAY! I have a small rug, rolled up, that I place on the floor in front of the front door. A draft blocker, if you will, to keep the ping pong balls from coming in under the door. He went out on the patio, where it is now warmer than in the house, and is listening to his phone. Some kind of talk show, probably on Rumble. He is checking over some of his succulents, his new past time. He saw an ad on Craigslist for some free pots, and had me reply for him. Have not heard back yet. To all y'all RTHlings: You are a special and caring group. I am so glad you have our back! I think we can unequivocally say Bob's heart valve installation Wednesday was a huge SUCCESS! Thank you one more time for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes for BOB and me. Thank you from the bottom of my !

I knew everything was going to be ok. I have seen Bob walk away from a fall that would put most people on the sofa for a week. You know he is to tough to let a bad heart stop him.

Thanks, Mark Mark K for your concerns. Yes, he certainly is tough, sometimes cantankerous. He has been through a lot. He told me a story this morning, about when they inserted the camera and the new valve (into the femorals, one on the left side, one on the right). The person doing it told him it could hurt a little as he inserted them. After he did the first one, he said, Wow, you didn't even flinch. Same after the second one. Bob has lived with so much pain over the years, he just takes it in stride, he is stoic. He told me something else this morning, he said that for the first time in his memory, he could not hear his heart beating (clunking) when he went to bed, just regular, quiet beating. He already has follow up appointments made with his cardiologist and his PC doctor next week. They tell you when you are discharged from the hospital that you need to see them within three days. We are quite pleased with this Senior Advantage Medicare plan through Sharp Health Plan, I even went on the same plan last month when I became eligible. They are very attuned to your needs, very professional. I even requested the same primary care doctor! It is sunny and warming up outside. Going to be a glorious day! Edit to add - Mark, I told Bob what you said (about being able to take some knocks). First he said to tell you thank you, then added that the problem is, too many people have see him take those falls (translation, they happen too often). I'm still trying to get used to seeing him without a beard, it's been awhile since he was clean shaven, lol. I did notice something I hadn't noticed before - Bob has his late father's mouth and chin!

I know, in the past, you have had a lot of horror stories about Drs and insurance companies. I'm really happy to hear that you are satisfied with both. You even chose the same insurance and Dr.. That's saying something. It's really good to hear, too, that Bob is doing so well with his quiet ticker.

There's lot to said about having a good doctor (or doctors plural as the case may be) and good insurance. One does not need to be worrying about that stuff while trying to recuperate. Bob was with Sharp before getting on the senior plan, but several years before he was eligible, he had a different PC doctor. We changed to his current doctor when we realized the other one was no good. Bob had the heart murmur when he was seeing the other doctor, who never even acknowledged the murmur, nor referred him to a cardiologist! Had Bob stayed with that old fool, the valve job may not have gotten done in time, may not have had a happy outcome.
