About a foot of snow here next to the beach. City is in panic mode.

It's warmed up quite a bit here, now 12 F ABOVE zero. I've been in the South when it snowed. NOT pretty.

wow - you ever have snow like that in your area before? Had to have closed the city down.
I have noticed that if you hit the refresh F5 key that the accumulated snow goes away. You might want to try that!

aside: I was just back having a smoke (freakin' cold out there!) and came back inside and went in my iguana's enclosure. 111° in there He is still out on his (heated) sleeping shelf and I will lower the enclosure temperature to around 100 before I put him in there. But, it sure was nice standing in that enclosure for a little while!

I just ordered a new battery for my car, because this one was very reluctant to start below -15 F. This has been a very expensive winter so far, and it's only early January! New set of snow tires: $560. Blanket for horse: $119. New battery for car: $160. Having a warm horse and a car that starts when you need it: priceless.

In the winter of 78-79 Tidewater Virginia had a couple of inches of snow. It shut down the entire military complex, except the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. Of course my ship was high and dry there. I walked to work that day. This Yankee was loving it. Clean, quiet, just a peaceful morning...
Oh yea, 16 below Fahrenheit this morning. Just saw another brass monkey walk through the backyard, obviously on a ball finding quest.

I do remember a few storms with much more snow. We had a January double nor'easter in 2k, I believe. NO ONE was expecting it, either. Not one weatherman. In the 80's we had quite a bit of snow. My brothers and I made a few bucks helping people push their cars on Va Bch Blvd. Dumb asses. I remember getting snowed in to a friend's house watching the olympics when the US kicked Soviet butt at hockey. SA WEET PARTY!

We may not be as cold as some of you, but I assure you, I am NOT accustomed to waking up to 12F with a windchill in the negative. Our blistering high should be abt 25F. By Monday our foot of snow will melt in a heatwave of 50.

Made me sad to see the pictures of all the iguanas dropping torpid from the trees down where old Bob lives. I used to have a pet iguana as a kid. Loved that big green dude! I know they are an invasive but I still hope most of them make it through the cold OK....Mel

I hear iguana is good eating, time to forage. Don't need a freezer here to keep it froze. Maybe 40 below tonight but above zero tomorrow.

Rich you seem positively joyous over this weather event. Perhaps the happiest I've ever seen you.
Congratulations!
