My wife has no interest whatsoever in rocks. I've made bracelets, pendants and earrings, but she would never wear any of it. At least she hasn't yet. So, no interest in joining in on the hobby. Could be why I continue to enjoy it.

Don't have a problem in my house. DH is also into cutting and loves to hang in the saw shop slabbing away. He'd actually rather slab rock than cut. We met when we were both members of the Opal Auctions forum. We met up a couple of years after DH joined, and I moved to Arizona from Chicago to marry him. aDave - We have a booth at the Prescott show every year. Stop by and say hi when you come! The Prescott show is really a "no brainer" for us. Right now, this is the place we'd like to move to, and the show is a great reason to visit again. Absent unforseen issues, we'll be there. We'll be sure to stop by. I will contact you later down the road. Thanks for letting me know. Best regards. Dave

Quote from my wife, " Don't you dare die and leave me with all them darn rocks!" That being said, she does love carved stone turtles and for some reason apples, and she loves to capture big boulders for her flower garden and small peculiar pieces for her flower pots. Hated to leave most our boulder collection when we made the Texas move...Mel

Well, when I finally got good shiny rocks I was so happy. So I showed her and her response was...yep that's a rock. Then I glued a magnet on them so I could use them on my Post it board. She said that's cool can you make me some, Then I said its only a stupid rock glued on a magnet. No more questions.....

When I first met my husband, he had no idea what he was getting himself into! 😉 The first 30 days he spoiled me with crystal pieces that blew my mind. When we got married he told me he was glad I said yes because he was afraid he'd go broke courting me! Today, he knows a lot, we started our business as a bead distributor in 2008, he bought me a 20" rock saw last summer, a double barrel lortone tumbler for Christmas, is my BIGGEST fan when it comes to my jewelry design and is my best salesman for our leather Harley Davidson themed bracelets. I am very blessed to have him right beside me enjoying this journey. Very blessed! I grew up gold mining as it has been in my family for generations. We do everything "rock" related together, including the shows. Life doesn't get better than that!

My wife is every bit as enthused about the rock hobby as I am, maybe more so. We both hunted agates on our local railroad tracks as kids, well before we knew each other. With reasonable hunting, or digging in the field, she would work 'till exhausted. At home she used to put in a lot of effort with both the tumbling and the grind/polish aspect of the home front. Unfortunately, a multiple vertebrae fusion a year ago has slowed her efforts to near a halt, but hope is still there to get out again. The enthusiasm and appreciation of finished material is still there, a good thing for us both.

My gf liked rock hunting road trips for years. Then we got married. After that she likes displaying them if they appeal, good enough. Still occasionally collects if the getting is good. Likes me to go away, and I like to get away. Cool balance.

No problem in our house. She helped me set up the business side (She used to be a Lawyer), Helps out at the shows, and even forks over the cash when I buy rocks and equipment (She carries the checkbook and cash- My idea!)
Life is good.........

I'm very lucky with my DH! He loves me and loves to make me happy. I've never seen him as happy as he is swinging a sledge hammer. It's got to be a man thing. He just loves to open up, tear down, split open anything that most people wouldn't even try. I got him a Hulk tee shirt to wear on digs. He is freakishly strong and loves to show it. 💪
My only complaint is when he wont stop collecting. When we go on digs he has the mindset to 'get it all'. We've talked about this and he says that he just wants to make me happy, if a little makes me happy, then a lot should really make me happy. LOL So now I have way more boxes of rocks than I can ever use in this lifetime. He still talks about an agate boulder that I made him leave behind in Utah. The year before we blew out the axle on the truck on the way back home from collecting out west. I just didn't want a repeat of that incident.
