Karma

It looks like an Exalt gives one point - and a Smite gives a -1 point.
It seems as though theres a time limit on how much karma you can give or take in one day (probably - will have to wait till tomorrow to see - or it may be 1 hour - dunno yet).
Karma can not be undone - but presumably you can remove a point on a given day - and then add one back in on another day for someone.
The Exalt/Smite links must re-appear for us after the period of X has elapsed.

Hey - I just noticed theres a "Karma" feature on the board - this enables members to pass on Good Karma to other members - but also remove a bit of Karma from members too if they are Naughty It can be quite fun - but - tread carefully all as it can also cause a bit of a stir when ones Karma falls. I Believe that any member can only pass on or remove Karma from a member so many times in a given period - it may be once per day - not sure - still trying to find out and experiment. Thus avoiding any mass "Smiting" - now its all good fun - please enjoy Mark.

Thats the one Stephan - we can now personally kind of "vote" for how cool other people are by kiving them Karma. Ive seen it round on other boards but never knew Proboards had the feature. Beware of posting a bad post - ones Karma could drop dramatically - I'll have to beware if I have a beer and get over emphatic from hereon in!!

LOL here - good points all - I will pass them on to my friend for his info.
I think hes talking about materials which would probably cost MORE than granite funnily enough.
And over here weve had a spate of vandal attacks on graveyards - whereby the granite and sandstone headstones have been hit with whatever is around and have cracked/chipped and or broken completly.
Mate reakons his plastics/resin mixtures cannot be broken with a sledgehammer.
Lots to think about - hes also a scupltor so hes thinking of moulding shapes like cherubs and angels and what not aswell - probably do books too with words on.
Apparently hes seen some stuff in graveyards and seems confident he can do better.
Who knows how it will go - I'll let you know when hes actually got a result of some sort.
Thanks for the input though.

For sure Stephan.
Now who wants to put the cash in?
Ive got 20,000 USD to play with - and I'm talking about injection moulding and toughened resin rather than just plastic.
Does anyone want to start a business on this front?

Ok.
About Ten years ago I went down to Stratford Upon Avon (Shakespear Country) with Debs and her mom and pop. As we walked through all the ruins and villages and church graveyards - my Father inlaw said - this...................
"They should make gravestones out of toughened plastic".
Tonight - a whole ten years later - my mate (a sculptor) comes out with "Mark - I have a new business - now its top secret dont tell anyone...."

Ok - as theres a majority - I will go with it. I cannot limit the size of pics - because not everyone has the software to compress them down. So there would always be large pics coming in. Thumbnails - thats for the more experienced users (IMHO) - again - software and a bit more knowledge in HTML is required and not everyone has this - so basically a knid of "global rule" wouldnt work 100% of the time. (Ive seen people produce thumbs of 300K on avatars!! I reckon were doing ok with the board pics the way they are at the mo - and the vote seems to say the same so I wont mess around with it. Cheers for voting.

Should I create a board called "Rocking Related Pics" - A place to post your pics of tumbles kits and all kinds of rock creations, travels, locations, finds etc.
and
"Member Pics" - A place for pets - people and fun in general
This sort of thing - so separate pics board for the general stuff and one for the rock stuff.

I think its better left the way it is aswell for now in here. I am into this "KISS" thing - I call it (GDIS - Good Design Is Simple) - like the woodwork teacher used to say (every DAY!). Moving posts - well for a note - I think that "moving posts for reasons of misplacement" isnt what I mean by "policing". Thats like moving or deleting posts due to the offence they cause - and I try to avoid that - as not EVERYONE is offended very often - maybe 1 time in a year - or 2 times maybe. Moving threads to make them on topic with a given board within a forum is an influence of my "judgement" on the original poster and the posted message. Very often - this can upset a person - because it is often the case that there are reasons I know nothing about which caused the person to do what they did. Granted this doesnt occur all the time - but sometimes. Occasionally a post may be made in a higher traffic forum which is off topic but the poster needed a more rapid response to the question that they may get if it was placed in the lower traffic - but "correct" forum. Its all very very VERY bendy is all this - everyone will always go round in circles including me as to how to best organise things. Forums Ive been a member of...................well - nothing ever irritated me more than having my posts moved around when they were "deemed" as wrongly placed. So - rather than move stuff round I ended up not moving stuff round Sometimes a post can contain two topics which kind of blend together and make it ambiguous as to which is the best forum. Also though - I know that there are obvious cases of ones which were misplaced. Im waffling - I fink I'll leave as is for a while longer yet - unless anyone posts here and tells me off for not changing it. Cheers Mark

This is in reply to the post started by Don and commented on a lot.
Ok - in here - if you would like a new section - and reckon that there will be people interested aswell - post the suggested name and a description for the section.
Also - if you read a suggestion in here - please can you comment on whether you think its viable or not - so I can get a feel for what people want and dont want to do etc.
Cheers Mark

All - interesting thoughts there. Ive often thought the baord in general has moved onto other things aswell as tumbling alone. On reflection - I suppose it was bound to happen and could not be avoided - I didnt anticipate it happening - it just did over time. This has left me with the quandry of seemingly offering little or no places on the board for the many other individual things people do with the rocks. Which bugs me - as whilst I personally have no skills beyond tumbling rocks - there are many other aspects which I am certain deserve their own sub-sections. With this in mind - I could create any number of sub-sections if there are enough people to post in them and share info etc. I have started a thread called "Board Expansion" - so please if you would like a sub-section - post its "Name to be" and a description in there. Also - please can anyone who wants to do so - also say what they think about section names people recommend and give opinion aswell. The name of the board has to stay as "rocktumblinghobby" though - because it is through this phrase "rock tumbling" which people locate us on Yahoo - MSN and other search engines. I realise though that it is more than just rock tumbling which we are dealing with here - so the name "rock tumbling hobby" is - perhaps these days - not quite a true representation of all the people in here - and that which we do. Pictures in the "Member Photos" - well - pics are probably the best bit - and i'll address that one in another thread - "Pics Board". Personally - Im not tumbling right now due to the house work ive got to do - but Ive got a lot of pics to take at some point from various samples from people here and I need to get them uploaded too. Some finished - some in polish (yeah - get that - in polish and not spinning - terrible situation!!)
