Ethel - that is one great looking set up you have there - neat as hell. On the speed front - my only input is that as long as the rocks dont spin with the barrel and stick to the sides as its too fast (centrafugal force but I probably cant spell it) - then it would depend on the hardness of the rocks and how much padding pellets you get in. There was a thread a long while back about speeding up the rotation speed of the barrel by wrapping thick tape around the drive shaft - I stuck my rocks to the sides of the barrel by taking that one a bit too far

Maybe shortly we should have a "pinned threads" board - where all constant rolling threads could be placed?
Not yet as theres no clutter at the mo.

I dont deserve anything Cher - its YOU GUYS that built the board - all you guys have 10x the knowledge I have. I tumble for a hobby on smaller scales. But I enjoy it just the same of course. Im runnin a bath - going to tell Debs we hit the 1000 mark - it was good to see as especially when I cleaned out the members which had deleted themselves the count dropped by 20 or so. And no bother here we are again and hitting the 1000 Let it rip indeed - and may we all continue to say as we feel here on this board - no government here or any of that crap Mark

If the vote goes yes - then i'll have to figure a way of structuring it so that the topic of the posts in the forum would be the name of the vendor.
I personally reckon things are as best they can be - with members quickly catching on to a duff trader and then making it plain for all to see.
I dont feel via my reading that anyone in the boards are only here to sell and nothing else - its not what im seeing.
A forum which lists someone as a bad trader also potentially opens up some legal issues - or does it?
Not sure exactly what would be written in such a forum - by whom - and how it would be organised.
All views welcome of course.
Mark.

Ive got 5 barrels on the go - but today I took my Snowflake Obsidian out to have a look at the polish stage - (I got it from James) - and ive messed up - its a mess.
I need to revisit the forum posts for this stuff.
I kind of knew I would have to read up on it.

Hi Beechcomber - the site is there - yup - you can scroll down it and read all the stuff I found out when I started on the rocks - how it "gets to you" as a hobby. It is that domain which sends people to this forum via the search engines. It isnt an "expert view" on the hobby - it was my entry point into it. The real detail is in here with experts. mark

Hi Jack - ive had this when the stones are too large and there arent any (or only very few) small ones in the mix.
Stones too large - all a similar size - too few has caused this for me.
Not enough contact / movement between them to cause the grit to break down in the usual space of time - it would probably go eventually - but over months or weeks instead of days.
Hope this helps.

Rocksds - I am sorry to say that to-date my experiment with Malachite has unfortunately NOT resulted in a shine (grim). Ive got 6 barrels on the go at the moment - and when I finish these I reckon on placing one single piece of Malachite in a barrel of tin oxide on its own - just with plastic pellets surrounding it. LCARS - I saw your box of goodies and the Malachite in it - go for it and get it rolling Give it a try - at the price you got that for you have nothing to lose and a great green mess of gunk to gain Do it - stick it in a barrel and make a mess like I did

LOL - I "wish" bikerrandy - all the chrome and such......... I watch Natg on the Hotrod builds - not tooooooo keen on them - but storming stuff during the building. (Engine probs - bodywork not fitting the chassis, daft staff that dont know left from right, paintwork issues and smoooooothnes probs - I totally like watching about them being built. The other day there was an unpainted Hotrod being built and taken over the "salt flats" I cannot remember where exactly. Anyways the dude had no oil pressure in a new built hotrod - he had to get the engine manufacturer in and strip the whole thing down. Turns out the oil pickup was too low - they bent it a bit and all was cool - it started to pick up the oil and they ripped it over the salt falts. The guy who was the passenger had an accident a bit earlier (maybe a couple of years) and had to have his face rebuilt due to the crash in testing the new hotrod. Anyways Im a waffling. Yes - a bike would be nice - VERY NICE. I would take it over Kinder Scout - theres two roads there to warrant it alone. For now tho - its kiddie on the way and a convertible will have to do.
