That's sure a different way to collect than we can do here, but looks plenty successful. On average, about how far from shore can you wade out? Thanks for the show.

Don't forget to include some well-deserved self satisfaction in the rewards column. That's a fine "weekend" place in a remarkable location, renovation well done.

Thanks for the ride-a-long. We've heard so many people grumble about the desert being nothing but miles and miles of miles and miles, you sure prove them wrong by getting close to it, beautiful terrain. That favorite pic. of Jax is indeed a prize winner.

We sure like your finds, the generous size gives you lots of raw mtl. in one chunk.

roy is right about replacing the cap; my dilemma is either driving 95 miles round trip to get one or paying a shipping charge that a little over doubles the cost of the cap.

That looks like a good start for a nice machine, especially if inexpensive.
Before you start it up, take the capacitor out and check it/have it checked to make sure it is good. It's located under the motor base. Ours was shot when we bought the machine, know of another locally. Bad cap will either not start the motor or will cause it to overheat very quickly. They aren't expensive.

We have a manual for a Fac-Ette machine, not exactly the name you provided, but I get the impression you aren't really sure of the name either. I'll email it to you if you want.

Not only do machines have a way of reproducing in rock sheds, the rock hobby has a way of reproducing rocksheds. Enjoyed your slab show, ya have to figure a save on the tree one, very special piece.

I've used waterglass for a long time to attach rocks to wood for cutting, but only after I've established a flat surface to glue after taking a cut or more and cleaning the piece. Never had one pop off. I put them in boiling water and they come loose in no more than 5 minutes, Goodwill hotplate works great.

I got confused by Peruano's explanation regarding knowing the size of the pulley you need so as to know the speed of the belt, probably not alone here. You need to know the size of the pulley to purchase as it has an effect on the speed of what you are driving with the motor. Speed of the belt is moot. A pulley the same size on the motor as on the driven shaft means the driven shaft runs at motor speed. Smaller on motor than driven runs the driven shaft slower than motor, larger runs the driven shaft faster than motor. Basic math, divide diameter of "driven" by diameter of "drive", and motor speed by result of that to get speed of driven shaft.

I can't get a grasp of a misting problem as our 16" Royal saw with hydraulic oil in it has never created any. It lives in the shed, and if it were to develop a misting problem I'd put a kitchen type exhaust fan over it, easy to mount, fairly quiet, and they don't draw much power.

We saw a little blip about this on the local news yesterday, it was just a teaser for what you put up. Thank you.

You will find the "insert image" note when you go to "reply", not "quick reply".

napoleonrags, may I rephrase your comment about dumb people asking questions? I've done some teaching over the years; many times students have referenced asking a dumb question. I've found, without fail, by asking members of the class, how many others were asking within themselves, the same question. A show of hands has always shown the person asking the question was not alone in asking, whether aloud or not. It isn't a dumb person asking a question, it's a courageous person asking a question. My 2 cts., makes me feel better.
