Really nice rock show, thank you. Nothing beats getting out for that creek bed therapy.

The vice screw on both my Royal saws runs through a steel block drilled and tapped for the vice screw and welded to the bottom of the movable jaw. As you can see in the picture you put up, the outer end of the screw near the handle has a fat washer welded on the outside of the frame, and a set collar on the inside. Mine have two set collars.

There is no release for the vice jaw, crank it tight, cut, crank it loose.

Crazy amount of stuff in the oil, and a crazy amount of stuff going on in those slabs, great pieces.

I have a "Defiant" brand plug-in GFCI from Home Depot, yellow in color on the front for the sake of identification. I just tried it and it does NOT disconnect when the power goes off, reset not required.

The release handle "in the above picture" is the round rod in the right front corner of the tub, it acts on a split nut on the feed screw.

Have a look at start buttons on clothes dryers, they are a simple mag switch. Mine is rated 15 Amp / 1/2 hp. Easy to mount and wire up.

The lids are normally made of much thinner material than the tub, no need for bulletproof just to contain the oil. 16ga.steel, .06" thick, weighs 1/3 as much as 7ga.

We found some pretty good pieces in the landscaping at Sleep Inn motel in Bend, OR some years ago. Tumbled them up and took some to our club meeting where we described them as "Sleep Inn" agate. One of the older and very experienced members said "Sleep Inn agate, never heard of the stuff", the explanation got some laughs.

Get off trailer easy, roll off on pipes. May need receiver frame of some sort, lumber?

There's a 9 foot one at Rufus, OR where that rock shop/museum is/was. The table was originally a round saw blade. I haven't heard much since the old guy passed on. His son or nephew was trying to re-open it, fun place to see.

Pat, bronze, as with brass, has a multitude of alloys. Perhaps starting here will give you some insight as to type and availability: www.thoughtco.com/bronze-composition-and-properties-603730. A call to a non-ferrous metal supplier might get you recommendations as to the type that will work best for your needs.

Regarding the question about some brass alloys being much more tarnish resistant than others, I think maybe they are actually bronze alloys, made up of copper and tin rather than copper and zinc. Appearance is much the same but the material is much tougher and tarnish resistant.

You didn't mention your location. I buy in 50lb. lots from Kleen Blast, they are all along the west coast, best price I can find. I get it in Portland, Oregon. You can look them up on web and I find the store prices to be a bit cheaper than they list on the website. This is where I get the grit, not rough material to tumble.

Good idea, glad to see it works well. Do you get the same polish quality in each segment as if you were running a bunch of smaller stuff in the entire tub?
