Pat, Are you using these cases for 8" laps or 6" laps? I have a message to the seller on Ebay trying to find out the size that would fit the 8" lap, but haven't heard back from them yet. I sent an email to AMLAP (before finding this thread) and it was bounced back as undeliverable so I'm guessing they are officially done.

My main goal is to facet more. I spend so much time looking at my available rough and the designs I want to cut. I haven't quite learned how to read a rough gemstone to get a feel for the best cut. So I just take a big slab of some cheap man-made material and start hacking away. So my secondary goal is to learn how to decide the best cut for the rough. And then facet some more!

Did you keep a tumbler to keep yourself in the competition or did you give the rest of us a chance? I still have a couple of QT66s, but have sold all my grit, ceramics and Lot-Os. So, technically, I still have a tumbler... icon_think

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't seen that Xenvo brand before. It's really hard to find real reviews anymore. I feel like all the Amazon reviews and Youtube videos are people who were given free product in return for leaving a review. The price for the Xenvo looks nice and I like that I can keep my case on the phone. Off to do a little more research...

I agree with the info given by QualRiver. When I was talking to Gearloose about CZ he recommended 3k diamond on a BATT lap followed by 50k diamond on a Darkside. I have not tried this yet though.

Really nice. I tried to wire wrap a tumbled stone once. All the material is still in the corner where I threw it (the spiders have now claimed it)!

or is the weather improving a little bit each day? Since the planes are flying a little close to everyone's head - YES, the weather does appear to be getting better. Definitely less accumulation now that I really look!

I have removed the tutorials. While the information had been updated and links worked, I’ve received some nasty emails and that is unfortunate. I made the tutorials and provided them for free. I do not want anyone sharing the tutorials anymore, so please don’t add links to versions you may have saved. I believe there is enough info here now to fill in the gap as the group and forums have grown a lot over the past 8 years. Happy Tumbling I just want to say thank you for posting them while they were here. They were the first documents I used to learn how to use my tumbler. Your information will live on in the knowledge we share with everyone! Sorry some people can be assholes!

That is an amazing stone for first without help. Meets look awesome, polish seems top notch. I'm really happy for you. A rising star in the faceting world. Congratulations! Thanks, I was quite happy with the meets and final polish. The edges kept wanting to chip, but I read some other messages where people had the same issue with this material. I'll try cutting it a little less aggressively for the rough shaping. I also had one edge of a facet that didn't want to fully polish, but I decided to move on and not get too fussy!

Just wondering is anyone has tried the Olloclip lens for the iPhone (or any other clip-on style lenses). Thanks for any feedback!

I'm not tumbling anymore but I hope to make this event and at least say hello to everyone and dig around in the dirt for a bit!

I took this sitting on a white tile. This one was taken thru my 10x loupe. It shows the scratches and chipped corners much better!

I found setting the filter to "Chrome" in iPhoto edit mode made the pictures really pop. The colors were just about what I was seeing in real life (maybe a little more "exciting", but it was close enough with only having to click one button).

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to play around with a few things I learned online to see if I can improve the pictures any!
