Yeah, sorry everyone. Sometimes life has a way of throwing curveballs at you even if they are good ones. If anyone had told me that after starting this thread I would get sucked head-first-wallet-second into a whole house renovation project, I would have told them they were nuts. Please everyone continue with the Friday night get together at Tony's booth at Desert Gardens (if that is still his plan catmandewe ). I know you all will have a great time without my awkwarding it all up - and please support Tony by buying lots of rocks or equipment from him. So sorry Tommy, I was looking forward to meeting you. Last year, I had to cancel because my fellow rockhounder got COVID the day before flying out and I wanted to wait a year to do it with him instead of going alone. For me, this will probably be a one-time thing because I'm more interesting in going to find rocks and tumbling them than in going to shows where things are for sale.

Tony catmandewe let us know anything needed for t Friday night. I know firewood and any side dishes are always welcome. Anything else…. Also Diane drocknut and Russ nowyo please list your respective space numbers if you can. This goes for any other members vending at the Pow Wow. I will be leading a field trip with a few club members at the Pow Wow and would like to make sure we stop by.

I was there 11-4:30 yesterday and started inside the building. What an overwhelming visual spectacle. My eyes were sore from so many patterns and colors and not knowing where to look and try to focus on in next second.
I'm so happy with the high quality psilomelane I bought and some impressive new Inferno jasper from Chihuahua and some yellow and red PW. Everyone is so nice. Just walking around and listening to conversations is educational as well as fascinating.
Made a huge mistake though with the guy from Gambia. When he said 50 cents in reply to my asking how much, I went to town mostly with small prehnite nodules. When he weighed and said $452 instead of about $12, I was speechless. Upon clarification it was 50 cents PER GRAM! I sheepishly put them all back...he was laughing...thankfully. At least we bonded over large Gambian crocodiles.

Where is Tony? The Pow Wow office says that vendor is not here. Hey Bob, I'm pretty sure Tony is at the Desert Gardens show, not the Pow Wow. They are both in Quartzsite just different locations. We'll be there tomorrow and Saturday, looking forward to meeting some of y'all!

Thx. I go there in a while. I'll be here until late on Sat but will probably head into desert tomorrow and Sat for collecting. Hope to get to BBQ though. Just feeling my way around hardly know what I'm doing. Just bought a bit of green obsidian which I had never heard of.

Tony is in Desert Gardens north east corner by the big Diamond Pacific metal building. We are at the Pow Wow right now and having a blast!

Just bought .5 kg of hi qual prehnite for $25 for a guy from Mali. After I went by Gambian guy from yesterday. Not a single customer near him. Would have cost me $250 there for slightly less quality.
That is the only over priced stuff I've seen though after seeing a few hundred vendors.

Dang!! I wish I were there!! It's a long hike for me from NY but I did get out there five years ago. I have a friend in Wickenburg so I commuted from there back and forth a few days. Took me 3&1/2 days hard driving by myself to make Wickenburg. Hoping to make it out again, but not this year, hope y'all have fun out there!!

Wish had waited to buy most of my rough at Desert Gardens rather than Pow Wow. Heading out into desert in morning but will hopefully see you at the BBQ.

Tony, I was on my 3rd Modelo and getting pretty cold and had to bail, but it sure wasn't due to lack of fun conversation. Thanks so much again to you and your wife for that wonderful evening!

Alright for those who didn’t make it here are some pics of various stuff we saw at The Pow Wow and Desert Gardens. [img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/dxhpvzoz2/image/upload/v1674399754/v0dwsx6i7mzposreazcw.jpg" alt=" "] The BBQ Friday night was really a blast. Lee Rockoonz it was nice seeing you and the wife again and bonus points to you for bringing Taco. Also great seeing both Russ and Diane and purchasing some goodies from them, looking forward to cutting the pastelite! 1Mark K it was a pleasure meeting you and thank you for the huge chunk of Table Mesa Jasper! Another piece I’m looking forward to seeing what’s inside it. Kudos to you for giving everybody a rock that was a great idea and now I want to bring stuff I found next year! Bob and Walter also was wonderful meeting you guys, thanks for making the long trip from OK and I hope your hunts in the AZ desert proved fruitful. Tyler goldfinder also a pleasure to meet you and your wife. Your dedication to “the hunt” is very impressive and the material you showed us was gorgeous and I think I speak for everyone there when I say we can’t wait to see what else you start pulling out of the ground up there. And the biggest thanks goes to Tony catmandewe for hosting all us rocknuts and cooking a gang of hamburgers, hotdogs, and sharing the delicious stew. Also thanks for the great rough we bought from you too, wifey and I spent a long time going thru all your stuff and we definitely pulled out some sweet goodies! Overall I think our trip this year was the best yet and the added pleasure of hanging out at Tony’s and talking shop was the icing on the cake. Hopefully we can do this next year with all of you guys and even more!
