criminy ... Top CBS lawyer: No sympathy for Vegas victims, 'probably Republicans'www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/10/02/top-cbs-lawyer-no-sympathy-for-vegas-vics-probably-republicans.htmlA top lawyer for CBS said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night.
Geftman-Gold continued: “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].”
“CBS is looking into the matter,” a company spokeswoman told Fox News. That is sick.

Yes, there were reports early on that some lady was in the bar in Mandalay Bay yelling about people were going to die. They think it may have been a lady who his roommate or girlfriend. They were looking for her this morning and had BOLOs out for her and the vehicles she may have been in. They confirmed they had her in custody this morning, but that was shortly before I went to bed so I have not heard if she was involved or not. Watching the news right now. At the press conference earlier they said that the roommate/girlfriend is out of the country and they want to talk to her when she gets back. Haven't heard that there was anyone else involved. Where are they getting that from? They said around 5am that they thought they had her in custody and were trying to confirm it. By 6am they had confirmed it was in fact her.

Updare.
At least 58 dead, 500+ injured.
17 guns found in the room.
Shooter was a multi-millionaire real estate investor.

Horrible event! Man, that hotel sure had lax security if that guy was able to mount that kind of crazy complex preparation for his attack. Sure going to be interesting see what the heck his crazy motive was.
By the way. I agree with those above, I guess the news people, in all their political correctness, don't count Native Americans being massacred by our own government, settlers, colonists etc, as part of the great historical massacres in US history which is pretty darn offensive to First nations folks. Still remember when I was in the army and they proudly showed us the army battle flag with all it's various pennants, many of which glorified battles that were nothing more than massacres. And I was in a company with a lot of White Mountain Apaches...Mel

About 21 mins into the press conference it's mentioned. I wonder if they are talking about a different woman? Maybe a girlfriend. Because one they said they found her this morning and located both vehicles. And secondly how could the roommate have gotten out of the country so quick especially when the airport was diverting flights and thus I doubt if they were letting planes take off either. So far no mention of anyone other than the shooter on the news since I started watching the news again this morning.

I think she has been out of the country because they said that she was not part of the actual shooting. Maybe they just meant the found her to be in another country. They do still obviously want to talk to her when she comes back to find out what she knows.

No mention of who they had in custody this morning nor the lady supposedly screaming about people are going to die. Now they are saying police responded not to the fire alarm but rather due to complaints from other people in the hotel. And one security guard was shot in the leg through the door.

Every story I have read and heard has labeled it the worst mass shooting in MODERN US history.

Now they are saying police responded not to the fire alarm but rather due to complaints from other people in the hotel. And one security guard was shot in the leg through the door. This would be true. One of my family members was one of the first set of Officers to arrive on the shooter's floor, and I spoke with him today. Based upon the shooting of the security guard, they knew exactly where they were going when they got inside the hotel. His team arrived on the floor and ended up holding the hallway until SWAT arrived. They did not advance to the shooter's room, as active shooting was not heard when they were up there. From the shooter's perspective, based on my discussion with family, the shooter had set up the perfect "fatal funnel" for anyone approaching his room. The location of the room, coupled with other "security measures" the shooter took, he had a significant advantage against anyone coming to his door down the hallway. This was purely an evil man bent on attacking concert goers. It will probably come out later, but there was documentation in the shooter's room that showed there was considerable planning for the event. I won't go into detail here, but I was blown away by what I learned. You will be too when the information comes out. Flat out, this guy was evil. Evil is a harsh word, but it doesn't even begin to cross the lines for what happened last night. Folks are fortunate he took his own life when he did. He had a multitude of magazines loaded and ready to go that he never reached. Please, no political discussion here. It's not the time or place. There are too many unanswered questions to even start a dialogue. This hasn't kept the left from doing so, but I'm hoping that cooler heads will prevail here. Dave

Hmmm, some but not all news stories used "modern history" but in fact the US is a pretty young country. Not talking ancient history like Rome or Greece. My grandparents and great grandparents were around for the westward expansion and Indian Wars. That seems pretty modern to me but then I guess you can draw the line where ever you want *shrug*.
This terrible atrocity sure is an odd one. Sure hope we eventually get more details. I'm thinking maybe he was just a nut but it sure was not spontaneous. It was definitely a planned attack....Mel

What a small world.... my husband works with the best friend of the woman who was in the room next door to him. She was on vacation- first one in like 15 years. She heard the gunfire and just laid down on the floor. The police took her to the station where she had to stay until the all clear.
Just saw an interview with a man whose best friend, who was standing right next to him, was shot 3 times and lived. He was talking about all of the selfless people at the concert who stayed with the wounded and risked being hit. If there is one good thing that ever comes out of these horrific events it's the stories of individual bravery and sacrifice. So many people used their bodies to cover others and ended up dying themselves. So many wonderful people helping each other.

I was reading that the shooter did not kill himself as reported. An FBI hostage rescue team took him out and also found Antifa literature in his hotel room, according to a source linked to the team.

All the news locally is saying he shot himself and he had not affiliations with any group. Unfortunately rumors are going to fly, such as the one still claiming more than one shooter.

True, source is 2nd hand info supposedly from Fed LEOs. He does not fit the mold for any of the speculation thus far...

Pictures have surfaced of him wearing his pink wussy hat at an anti Trump rally in Reno. Call me paranoid, but my first thought was this is politically motivated! Country music fans are overwhelmingly conservative and most are Trump supporters. Where better to exact twisted "revenge" than a country music concert? True, source is 2nd hand info supposedly from Fed LEOs. He does not fit the mold for any of the speculation thus far... But, he does fit a "mold". Whether a person is a Muslim, a white supremacist, a black lives matter member, a southern Baptist, or the Pope...if they commit such a crime as this one then they have crossed the line of what (mostly) normal people can comprehend and they've entered into the realm of psychosis. This murderer had an agenda, he had a reason, and it was all-consuming for him...but, we will probably never really know what urged him to do this...we can't, as sane individuals, enter into the realm of his madness. Plenty of people experience problems in life, family issues, financial issues, personal issues, social issues, etc.,. But, most of the people who have problems deal with them in some way, they lower a shoulder and plod on. A very small percentage, step across a razor-sharp threshold into madness and never return...and they look completely normal to *us*. Or, it could simply be that the shooter submitted to the demons of the evil one... Whatever the case, my apologies at using the "R M" phrase here. It just seemed that many mass killings in recent (world) history of the last year or so have been carried out by members of a certain religion originating in the Middle East. After having my knee tapped so many times by by the media reporting about the jihad hammer I guess Pavlov's dog's reaction appeared in me. I did not know the phrase was now frowned upon around here... Again, my apologies to all and my heartfelt prayers for the wounded, their families, and for the families of those who were killed.

Intheswamp Good points, but you missed mine. Mass shooters are almost always MUCH younger. His social / economic position is certainly not indicative of the usual BLM/Antifa. If he was radicalized into a certain belief set (RM") that also does not fit with the usual converts.
