A couple signs of Spring. I live in a cold spot, so Spring comes late here. A mile down the road, the Lilacs are in bloom. Lilac buds. White Violets are beginning to bloom. There are tiny buds on the blue/purple violets.

I spent a couple days on each of these knives between chipping out the blades and making handles and hafting them. Obsidian, dacite and Buffalo River flint (from southern TN area). Handles from Southern live oak. Each handle is about five inches long. realrockhound

Mike, seeing pictures of your dogs enjoying their life with abandon is very uplifting. I am sure there is a lesson there for us two legged creatures.

I just put all five on consignment at a good friend's local brick and mortar rock shop. Showed him some others that I have and he bought two for his sons. He saw some pre-made handles and picked one out and asked me to knap a knife with that handle for him. All-in-all, a pretty good day. People that see them close up love the knapping and the handle work.

Nice Beth. Old sea dog RickB here. Next to the last photo is of the ship's forecastle (raised upper deck). Fun fact for those who want to know the proper pronunciation of it - FOWK-sl.

1979 photo I took with my Pentax K-1000. It was entered in a Wisconsin Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters Regional Art Competition where I placed 1st among 30 Northern Wisconsin entrants. The category was Interpretive Photography. I titled it Back 40 Fantasy. Ended up with Honorable Mention at the State level. This is what started my love of photography. I thought this photo was long gone, but I recently found it.

Took a bike trip along the Palmetto Trail here in coastal Awendaw SC and checked out a smaller path that intersected with it. Was surprised to see the remains of what I later found out were of the Walnut Grove Plantation. There is a plantation house in our upstate by that same name. This brick structure was built around 1900 at the same location as the original one that was built in the 1600's. The smaller building was probably used as the kitchen area. Looks like a new roof has been put on to help preserve it. Photos of large Southern live oak trees lining the front road. One huge oak branch went completely over the road. Some more old photos I recently restored. My Grandparents owned a resort. They were always taking photos of fish to use for promo. Some were made into postcards to send to former and potential resort guests. These were taken when my Grandpa was courting my Grandma. This is my mom and her first Musky. I added the caption to the photo, based on what she told me about it.
