thanks for all the positive comments, friends. @ Metalsmith, no, i buy the settings. i took a silver class a long time ago and really enjoyed it, but hubby was afraid i'd burn the house down. sigh. rockjunquie those metal spacers are actually crimp beads from Fire Mountain Gems. accidentalrockhound, thanks for appreciating my attempt of matching beads to the stones. Necklaces were very well received. KD

Made these for a friend and her daughter. Friend lives in Hokkaido, Japan, daughter in New Jersey, US. "Although you may be oceans apart, may you always be in each other's heart". Thanks for looking! KD

throw'em all in, what is too soft will make nice slurry. Check them fairly often to make sure they aren't out gassing, add some borax if they are. Scrutinize them after the coarse grind and assess who moves up to the next stage. Even the failed ones make nice filler for another batch, fill in holes in your driveway and make great drainage for potted plants. No rocks are safe!

Not bad for a first batch, love (jealous) that you have access to such nice local material.

RTH is also present on Facebook, but it's not quite the wealth of information or community as this forum. Do you really need a yahoo account to have a Photobucket one? Admittedly, Photobucket is a PIA.
