I am not a gambler either, I'd tuck that money behind my Driver's License and keep it as emergency money.

superb repair work! I always cringe when friends ask me to repair their jewelry. But, most of the time, i will give it a try. You are right about time consuming!

i got my first Chicago Freight tumbler for a Christmas present back in 2002 or thereabouts. Did some research on the intertubes and luckily found this site. Have made some very good friends here.

i bought this unit about a year ago and was horribly disappointed. I already had a saw, so i just got the flat lap. Water feed didn't work right, Customer Service sucked. Go with the Ameritool, i've heard much better reviews from that. check out this thread: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/73921/inland-lapidaryKD

I do feel sorry for Ms. Harris and her children, but when dealing with a bureaucracy, you must get everything in writing. When she filed her documents, presumably she was given some sort of receipt or directions for what would happen next. Simply "talking to" the homeschool director obviously wasn't enough. At the first visit from CPS, she should have known something wasn't right and pursued it then.
Call me paranoid, but I don't trust agencies like these to do their job properly and you have to personally follow up on everything, especially something so important as your kids. I have friends that do homeschooling and they had to jump through a lot more hoops than described above to get permission to remove their kids from public school and provide educational services themselves. As most of these new stories, there is probably a lot "more to the story".
Just my 2 cents.

Some of the best friends that i have never met are (or were) in RTH. While Life, the Universe and Everything tend to take up time, I still try and keep in touch in here, though, I must admit, I look at a lot of the rock pages on Facebook as well.

welcome to RTH, wannabee! I am about 90 miles to the east of you in Frankfort, NY, very near the Herkimer Diamond Mines.

i have kicked this issue upstairs to Mark, i can't seem to do anything about it. I have a suspicion that it is internal to Proboards, but will see what Mark says.
Hang in there guys,

Crazy Lace is my all time favorite agate. Sadly, i don't know of a consistently good source of the stuff. All i can offer is that when you are looking online for it, shy away from the stuff that has a lot of deep red areas, that is the softer crap.

There are variations in the quality of some material called "Crazy Lace". I've seen some really good material and some with a lot of the soft stuff you seem to have. Even Kingsley North can ship some pretty mediocre stuff on occasion. Having said that, i also use 60/90 as my first coarse run, and sometime run that for a month to achieve to acceptable shape.

loving the slabs, especially the Montana. That "unknown" Plume looks a lot like Graveyard Plume.
