Kevin--------I can't tell for sure but that first one seems to be an early Adena period --about 1000 to 500 B.C. (can't tell if the notches had points hanging down or if it is just flat)---------- the second appears to be a "Kirk" point from around 7000-8000 B.C.----------- the third is a "big Sandy" point (side notched ) from 4000-6000 B.C. --named for the Big Sandy river in tenn.------and the fourth is a "whack out from the A.D. period" when they didn"t take any time to true them up or thin them out ------------------ second & third are worth keeping !!! --good finds!!

James----just go buy it !! (so I don't have to)-you can take that plate off and put two smaller ones on ( should already have holes drilled in the center) or get a 35 # or 50# barrel---the new ones are 10 times that price

I wouldn't worry either, Rick is a good guy ! I needed an arbor for a 10" saw and was passing thu town the end of July--he met me at a star buck's to deliver it, and even bought me a coffee, got to talk to him for awhile --how many business's would do that?? he was busy then but made a few minutes for me and that I thought was special

There use to be a company in texas that made a kit to use in a wood box that you built yourself--- don't know if they still do that but they worked pretty good ! had one from an estate that I bought 5-6 years ago --took the box apart and sold the kit on ebbby --they had coated the inside with some sort of expoxy but the plywood was rotted on the outside so it was prob at least 20 years old or more and the vise & arbor was still in good shape ----------maybe look up lapidary saw kits

just went out and looked --it's still redish/orange here at 3;31
update-- I had actually looked at it about 3;10,then came in and got on the computer when I wrote this --right after I got done I looked again and a bright silver slice was beginning to take over the left side of the moon and seemed extra bright --watched for a few minutes then decided I might be able to get some more sleep, three hours just doesn't seem long enough !!

probably 60/40 (60 being ceramic) and they probably started out the size you mentioned but some have wore down over the years and are smaller--- I dump the whole batch on a screen I have to wash them and the little crums do fall thu so no tiny pieces are in there ( screen holes are @ pencil lead size) but every size from there on up is. just last summer I started a new batch for polish so they are all 3/8's x 3/4 ( haven't wore down much yet ) was thinking about the % as I was typing this and it may be even lower 70/30 or 80/20 as I leave the ceramic in the tumbler all the time then add slabs after I turn it on -- I like for them to "swim" around and when they get close/tight to each other I quit putting them in --but do different size batches from 20 to 50 # -- I also don't worry about 2-3-4 slabs sticking together as long as they have some slurry between them (will come apart when they get washed before the next size grit)

About all I do is slabs in a #50 vib --same as what Daniel said above --I usually do at least 3 days ,maybe 5 in 220, then I jump to 600 for another 3-5 days then 1000-1200 for another 3-5 days then polish for maybe up to 7 days -- the flats just take a lot longer than the corners do

Hey, I just got back from that Arizona thing so if you wanted to go to Phoenix and backtrack a little we could go to the "pet wood forest " then try the south rim of grand ( glass over walk)and on over to Vegas ------------------------ that's where the trip would end and we would have to walk home from there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 (after we got out of jail )

Kev --first thing I would do is fly to Peoria and see snowdog for lunch( then see if I could get him to carry my bags) then head to somewhere warmer and lots of rocks !! oh, and take him along to help look for rocks---------------when we going ??
