Cool finds! I collected there in the late 90's and found a neat geode of some type. Got ran out by a park ranger telling me rockhounding was forbidden. On the way out I did see a sign to that effect that I didn't see on the way in.

That is flippin cool! Does he wear it on a chain, cord, or? Thanks. It's worn on a pretty sturdy silver chain.. This somewhere around the 10th piece I've done for him and his wife. Great to have repeat customers!

Very nice, and some great near gel Rhodo there! thank you.radio.it was a challenge for sure.the little beads want to jump off/melt.lol.i kick my self in the butt for not windowing the sheet in back so it could be backlit.it has an awesome glow. Thank you all again Dave What flux do you use? If you don't have one, buy a couple of needle tipped flux applicator bottles. To keep the flux from bubbling and displacing small pieces, quickly pass the torch over the piece a few times until the flux dries. If heated too quickly, it will bubble and displace things, or even cause them to pop some distance as you have discovered. Gently warming the piece is the way to go Sometimes the flux will dry in the applicator needle, so I immerse the tip in my ultrasonic cleaner for a few seconds. Works like a charm! If you don't have one, get yourself an Ionic cleaner. It will remove most tarnish from sterling and not damage delicate gems like an ultrasonic. I really, really want a steam machine, but the big ones are too expensive and the small ones don't work as well. Nothing makes metal and diamonds sparkle like a good steam cleaning though!

Looks like some of the stuff I have pulled out of my creek. No tumbler yet so will be watching for yours. I don't care if its not fancy all my stones will be from Missouri and go into jewelry. There are a few geodes to be had North of Stockton if you ever venture thata way. Not very much of interest down here in the Ozarks

Here in Missouri just before deer season, purple springs up everywhere! There is also plastic purple ribbon much like the caution, construction or police tape printed with "No trespassing". Kinda pricey, but fast and effective

Very nicely done.did you fabricate the gallery wire for the bezel?going to try fabricating some for myself.you do extremely nice work very clean Dave Thanks everyone. No, factory made 30 gauge bezel from SFJS, so I can't take credit for the bezel on this piece. A good deal of the high end Navajo style Turquoise pieces I do have hand cut bezel though.

Finished this for a gal. Very heavy 10 gauge surround with file/saw work. A lot of distracting reflections in the silver, plus i was a bit distracted

A customer brought this to my shop a while back and wanted to know if anything could be done with it. It still had a lot of shale around it and was way too thick, but the Cab King and the Foredom turned it into something that was suitable for bezel setting. Just to safe, I lightly backed it with Devcon plastic steel ( I go through a lot of the stuff:-) and fabricated a bezel setting for it. The thing is about an inch and a half long, so makes quite a hefty masculine pendant. He was quite pleased with the outcome and wears it most every day

WOW!!! I wanna spend a week there! Missouri is so boring!
If you find that "splinter", please don't tumble it! It needs to go on a thin bladed trim saw and a couple of thin slices be taken off the end, then the remainder polished for a display. I would back the slices with the plastic steel, then cab them for a matching ring and pendant.

It's all about experimentation. I would stick with two or three smaller sizes for the Zen dealieo.
Another cool thing for the bigger ones would be a small tranquility fountain. you could stack three or four and have a cool relaxation pool. Now you just need to find a way to miniaturize some real Lotus for the mini gardens and you will be a rich man! :-)

Those are cool! I was thinking more of a Lotus leaf than Cauliflower If you want them to be permanent in the cups, rough up the base of the stone and inside the cup just a bit so the epoxy will grip the stone better. Those would look stunning in a 12X14" Zen garden! There is your marketing idea for the day Lotus leaves-indeed. A drop of epoxy and the deal is done. Never thought about a Zen arrangement. Excellent Arlen. I get a share or two when the new company goes public Actually, I bet you could make the shallow boxes, bag some sand, include a toy rake and a couple "Lotus stones" and sell them on Etsy

what are the dimensions of that piece? If long enough, I'm seeing a killer cab for a ring or pendant and enough left over for an awesome display!
