Hi all!
I went to a local show this weekend in South bay and picked up some goodies! check these out!
I went looking for some jade rough to slice up for a project and found these.... two large chunks...the larger one at 7 lbs and the smaller one at 4 lbs....paid a grand total of 10 uns for both
another look
this is the larger chunk...the gentleman at the booth was purty sure its from califonia
other side
this un he wasn't sure of the origin...he suspects Wyoming but he wasn't too sure...I did the scratch test on both rocks and couldn't scratch em...this one is really pretty...
better view....its got yellowish spots and has brownish red streaks from the rind going inwards...green in the middle
the rind...
Thanks for looking! still looking for positive id on these...please feel free to chime in if you have an idea on kind/origin...thanks for looking!!!

Wow, that was great. How BIG it all is out there, and how beautiful. I had heard that parts of the Oregon Trail remained but had never seen pictures of it. Is there a story about the ox drawn Conestoga wagon in the picture of Scotts Bluff? Is it real, or is it a permanent display of some sort? Thanks for the show, and the rocks you brought home are gorgeous! Don't forget to show us what you do with them! thanks Snowmom! with what I heard from the rangers over there that's a replica of what the wagons that the pioneers rode on looked like....it was a humbling experience to see how they done it... specially after seeing how deep the ruts were that they've left behind....

hey everyone!!
Last week ( got some vacation time from work) I went on an 8 day road trip .....was able to visit some incredible historical sites and take some pictures....I just wanted to share some of em with y'all....met some really nice folks along the way and was able to visit a small rockshop in Wyoming where I scored some olive and black jade...hope you enjoy...
joe
this one was taken just outside of st George Utah
Chimney Rock Nebraska.....a famous landmark along the Oregon Trail
Scottsbluff National Monument in Nebraska where the pioneers passed thru on their way to Oregon and Californy
more of Scottsbluff
Trail Ruts made by the pioneers
part of the trail used by the pioneers..some parts were deep!!! made me realize how tough they were...those that blazed the trail...Guernsey Wyoming
another angle
Register cliff in Wyoming...where some of the pioneers etched their names, state of origin and the date to mark their passage thru this spot...I saw a lot of signatures from the 1850's in this place...I took pics of the signatures but they were faint and didn't show very well
Ft Laramie Wyoming... the barracks for the enlisted men....they say this is the original building used....
inside the barracks....felt like the soldiers were still there...weird
my souvenirs from the trip...bought this from a small rock shop in Torrington wy...some olive and black Wyoming jade...
Thanks for looking y'all....
Red, White, and Blue....These colors don't run!

Your sunstones look great, booboo! The 11 carat beauty would look sweet in a pendant. thanks Gingerkid! I do believe a pendant would work for that un!

Hi All while waiting for my Sunstones to arrive from Thailand I went ahead and tumbled some of the sunstones I got my last trip out to Plush Oregon..I started out with almost 2 lbs of rough sunstones for this batch. After 6 weeks of tumbling in my rotary tumbler I ended up with about 1.5 lbs of sunstones...after selecting the best ones I ended up with about 14 oz's of Suntones im satisfied with...here are some pics...hope you like 'em...
group pic
another look
spread out for a better look
thanks for looking!
