Unusual material but looks good. The quartz part looks great. Hope you have great results if you pursue polishing!

Pieces of chalcedony can be found in water ways and in creek beds along with quartz and petrified wood usually, also agate. They can all be tumbled together. I put the stones in coarse for 10 days and later stages last 6-8 days. Naturally worn agate, quartz, and chalcedony works to your advantage, better than cracking your own stones for tumbling. Some stones just aren't made for tumbling. If you got a lot of cracks it would be best to leave that stone alone, they tend to fall apart. Jaspers and agates and most chalcedony look the best for tumbling IMO.

Good agate and better petrified wood, done great with your haul. Keep collecting, and make some good money too.

Your agate cuts are splendid, I like the soft blue and gray. Also the dark spots in the others really stand out.

I believe Lortone tumblers are meant to be operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the laundry room, basement, garage, anywhere inside that does not see many visitors. But likely you would be using a homemade tumbler, which would be fine operating outside in the heat.

I don't see why people continue to live in the desert, the economy it seems to me is not doing well. I've looked at towns throughout southern California and they are just about dried up completely. Maybe it's money troubles or family that are too bull headed to leave. I'd like to visit CA, but living there is a different story. My ex lives there and she only goes out at night. That's messed up, not able to leave your house when the sun is out.
