I wanted to be able to bolt my lot-o down so I attached a painted piece of wood to the top block and then bolted the lot-o to that. Not necessary. This is an old photo but my current setup is similar. Easy to move around with a handcart. Chuck Man that looks just like my shop except everything is clean and well organized and well lit and not everything is on the floor and clean. I've seen your pic before aND am impressed. Let's see a new pic.

I go to a local craft supply (Michael's) and buy half inch pre-rounded mixed agate stream bed stones for $2.99 per pound, and then usually with a 40% coupon so it's really $1.79 per pound. They are meant as decorative fill for glass vases, but stones are stones. I use it for the 60/90, 120/220 and 500 rotary stages. It lasts a loooong time. I then use mixed ceramic for the vibe polish stage. Have you found that the ceramic is noticeably better for polish? I'm on the fence about buying another 5lbs of ceramic. Colin

Nice creativity. I prefer Lortone barrels too, but like the openness of the Thumlers.

jamesp, which I like to think is short for I JAM in ESPanol, I've a question in response to your quartz thread. I bought some blue quartz from the Rock Shed. Roundly tumbled them in a 15lber then Loto-vibed them. They turned out severely pitted. Then, I backtracked to 120 in the vibe, went through the standard stages and dry polished them in corn media. Same result.
So I'm pondering going back into a 3lber with 30 grit and sugar for a few weeks with a recharge in a week then vib them with some AO500.
Normally I wouldn't fret it, but I bought this stuff to give it to graduating seniors at Greeley West High School whose colors are blue and gold.
Gracias. BTW my favorite Spanish jams are anything by Los Lobos or Triste Pena from the Gypsy Kings.
Keep on rollin, Colin

Well stated Juggler Dude. I have at least one rock that I've been rollin for a year. The way I imagine it to be might be a few years away still.
Keep on rollin.

Crazy Tim (timloco)? Fun stuff there. Where do you find NOCO agates if you don't mind? Living in Greeley we find petwood and a lot of quartzie stuff walking around (dang dangling modifier...I have never seen walking quartz...never hope to, either). Nice stuff.

Thanks for the replies. So how does one deal with the drive shaft bearing coming out of wack? Replace with Lortone bearing/sleave? Put in a longer shaft? The drive shaft becoming out of alignment have been the downfall of all three of the HBtumblers that I have. I've gone through 4 in one year, and I felt that the good people at the local HB (no sarcasm here, I really like them) intimated that enough is enough. So when the most recent one died tge same fate after 6 weeks, I was hoping to salvage it. Thank you all for your learned replies.

After multiple tries of using the search method suggested above, my old muse "user error" sings.
I know I read a post about replacing the motor in a HR with a Lortone. Anyone able to help a brother out?
Keep on rollin' Colin

Nice. OK, I live by the model "There are no stupid questions, just stupid people who ask questions." So I have a question: why gloves?
