Clean out the barrel very good, then do it again. If the stage 1 grit gets into stage 2 and so on down the road, that's a problem. Patience is also a key.

There are many websites that calculate all that for you. Google it and input your motor speed and what you want for output(rpm). You can play around with it to find the best pulley sizes that works for you.

Well, using the black light outside and seeing moving rocks or critters... Nothing like that around here. So, black light rock hounding is something to think about.

Im sure many people have ask the same question one or two...million times. But when your doing rock stuff you think of stupid stuff.
So, what's the difference between a rock, a stone, a pebble ?

My second guess. Rock hounders may not follow directions well, but that doesn't mean they are stupid. 395 miles Get the job done with as little steps as possible. More time to hound.

Just a little 1/8 acre lot but springs all over. You never know what you might find with spring around, and all rocks look round a tumbled. Nature a good tumbler.

Well as far as the PVC barrel goes. Been using one for over a year now with no problems. Line the inside of the barrel with a rubber sheet of some kind, cuts down on noise and the rocks won't side, they will tumble. It's cheaper than buying one from a rock tumbling company.

Oh, here's one that makes you smile, maybe. Started a new tumble, my usual mix.. Water, grit, kitty litter. But I was out of kitty litter so I put in some dog food to maybe thicken the slurry.(LOL If nothing else it should make the white strips brighter. HA

watching a movie and polishing by hand is too many things going on at one time. Also, I having better results with using grit this time.

I appreciate all the positive remarks because I didn't know if it was any good or not. I feel happy that I did he right thing. Also, a geologist, retired man had a booth with some bigger rocks. Don't know all the prices or where they came from but he had a lime green piece about the size of a football and he said it what be had to break up. But it looked neat, may have to go back next week.

Went today to a flea market a found some rock stuff. The price was good for me but don't know if it was good. Two tumble tumbles, a slab of tiger eye, two pieces of crazy lace and a far of flint. All for 20 bucks, it sounded good to me so now it's in my garage.

In reference to the last question... ( because my left side is bad too and my therapist said that I need to use it more, make yourself. I'm sure you knew that. I use the grit from the different stages in tumbling the same as the hand lapping. .
