Hey everyone! Not really sure exactly where to post this, but... I was just curious if snakeskin Agate is a real thing? Someone I know from overseas who has lots of cabs of it! And has sent me a photo of some of the rough stuff and the finished cabs! Looks just like snakeskin! But I've tried googling it and searching for it and not much comes up.. I can find one or two photos.. or something that doesnt look like what I was told it is, and not much more on the google! So any help would be great! I don't really understand the directions on how to post photos, or else I would share them! Also, the same thing with 'sea sediment Jasper' it's a deep blue rock! Very gorgeous! But again, tried googling it to no avail! Thanks so much for any help or insight your able to give! I think what you are referring to is the outer edge of a fossil pine cone. I have two cabs at home. I will post a picture tonight. Vic P.S. The way I post photos is through the tapatalk app on my cell phone

I have a chance to buy some nice stained glass. Can I and is it easy to cab? Never cabbed or cut glass before. Thank you. I hate cabbing it. I do alot of glass and it is a pain in the butt to get a great polish on it with cabbing wheels. I fire polish mine in a kiln and Jamessp polishes his in a vibratory tumbler. Vic

Very nice. Love the softer lines of the black and the gemmy quality of the pink. Nice stones.

Rings take a lot of abuse. I would really worry about the resin. I would try to talk her into a pendant, or a doublet with a quartz cap.

Metal, Rocks and Fire is the only way to roll. Too much thinking gets in the way. The bails are to die for! Nice work. Vic

I always use the 220 soft after the hard 220. It removes scratches fast and leaves a better surface for subsequent sanding. Like you I was frustrated by the time it too the 280 to do its job. Ron of Ron's Rocks, a big EBay seller located near me, suggested I try the 220 years back. I did and fell in love with the technique. What do you go to after the soft 220?

Yeah, you'll be happy you got the 220 soft. If you hate it, somebody here will buy it off you. My cabking had: Hard 80, Hard 180, Soft 325. The 325 wasn't enough to get the scratches from the 180 out. I got the 220 soft and it's working much better. So now you go soft 220 then 325?

Is anyone using a 220 soft wheel after 220 hard, or do you just go with the 280. It seems I spend more time on the transition from 220 hard to 280 soft than I do on the rest of the cab combined. I have been thinking of buying a 220 soft, but then don't know if I need a 280 or just jump to 325. Any suggestions? Thanks Vic

I have looked for this thread, and I have found it on other sites, but not this forum! Please point me in the right direction if I posted this to the wrong place! Thanks so much I am looking at buying my first piece of equipment (other than a tumbler I mean) My options are. Buy a new Diamond Pacific Genie or a CabKing 6 or 8"? I can get a new CabKing 8" for a similar price as a new Genie 6".! If I went with the CabKing, I would eventually swap the wheels for DP Nova's! So I am setting this machine up in my storage room at home (just a spare room with wood flooring). I am curious on the noise the CabKing makes when running(not grinding) compared to the genie!? I have only ever used the genies our local club has and have heard the CabKing are louder than the DP! I love the idea of the water drip of the CK rather than DP's spout.. and the cost of it! But I love hearing about people's 25+ year old genies still working great(and seeing first hand the four 20+ year old ones our club has) I don't have tons of room for my set up, just a desk, so I feel like the CK would be a pain with the buckets and hoses everywhere, but would be willing to deal with it if it meant I'd be happier with it! I don't want to get a DP just because it's what most of the old timers recommend, but I really really do like the DP nova wheels and am nervous about trying the CK wheels! I have no saws or anything at the moment, and I am planning on just using the saws at my local club for the first while! Thanks for any input! Also, is there anywhere to look for used equipment other than eBay? Thanks in advance for all of your time, advice, and comments! I have a Genie, that being said most of the cost savings in the other units are because of using cheaper wheels. The DP Nova wheels are much better than the rest. Ask anyone who has used Nova wheels compaired to off brands.

The shiny blue and green one is dichroic glass The two it's in between? Nephrite jade? What's the white and blue one? Chrysoprase. It was a big bead.
