I do have small pieces of coprolite, however they are very small, not Really slabbing material. I have been giving them tumbled Agates and thought allowing them to get a scoop out of a sandbox would be exciting for them. Happy 4th and thank you So much for the idea, Best Regards from the Oregon Coast...Sincerely, Mark... I think that's a great idea. Dig up a fossil out of sand. Doesn't have to be a fossil I guess - even digging up an agate would be fun... got to make them work for it though ... bury the best ones under a brick or pieces of cinderblock ... just kidding - my mind goes dark at times. i appreciate the idea on the agates, i am going to include them in the sandbox with the fossils once i get them. right now i am just letting the kids choose a few agates out of my agate bin.

I tried this a couple of years ago with no luck, but I'll try again anyway. I looking for a slab or 2 of any suitable material to make a cane handle out of. The slab would need to be approximately 3" by 6" by 1.5". I want to make myself a cane with something besides my normal wooden handles, something a little more distinctive. I only have a trim saw so I can't cut a suitable slab myself. I would prefer some type of agate, but I'll take anything with suitable stability for a cane handle. If you can fill my request let me know the material and cost. I wonder if Berber Agate might work?

I slab up coprolite and break it up to give kids. I have a pile of dino dung that looks like a large pile of dog poop but shows the color thru a vhip. I get the kids to hold it and then mist the broken slabs with water and get them to pick one! They love it! I do have small pieces of coprolite, however they are very small, not Really slabbing material. Great jobs on some small cabs! Whenever I do very small ones, I usually will work with 22g unless the stones are thick. Wow your work is truley exceptional with unique artistic character, I really need to learn how to do this and know it pieces of this quality would do very well in my shop. I appreciate you sharing, warm regards sincerely from the Oregon Coast...Mark...MLOGANROCKS...

I have just opened up a rock shop and was wondering if anybody might or would be willing to point me in the right direction to purchase bulk low grade fossils to pass along to the kids that come through the shop with they're parents. I was thinking of doing a sand box type set up with shark teeth, amenities, and trilobites that are partial..etc..I am also looking for fish plates with partials that I could purchase at a good price. If you have any information it would be very much appreciated...I know that I should be going after better grade material, however it's going to free for the kids and it's really all I can afford at this time until I'm able to recoupe some of my money that I have already invested to get the shop open. I am not looking for handouts I would just really appreciate a good contact on this. Thank You for reading and I wish you the best sincerely, Mark...MLOGANROCKS... My apologies for misspelling amenities... ammonites, darn spell check on my phone...lol...

Talk about a dream come true - here's to ever increasing success...! Thank You so much, I have always wanted this and kept allowing fear of failure to hold me back. I am sure to have some lesson learned experiences ahead of me, however it will only make me stronger and as long as I know that I'm doing my best than I know that I have no reason to be disappointed with my efforts. I am not going to slander my local competitors in any way and just remain honest and fair to my customers and know that it is they're choice where they choose to shop for they're collecting or lapidary needs.

Welcome from Kentucky! You can, and should, tumble those river rocks. Yes, the river has got them nicely rounded, but it's up to you to put a shine on them. You'll figure out which ones polish better than the others soon enough. I have a friend who tumbled hundreds of pounds of the river rock along with agate for his yard which is landscaped quite well. Welcome from Oregon.

Outstanding! Congratulations on the grand opening. Best wishes for continued success. So... what's the name of your store? Still no name yet, it is currently registered under our business name of mloganrocks. I know that my wife and kids need to sit down sooner than later and get this figured out. Its important too me have us all agree on a name since they have put a lot of work into this with me. My youngest son who is 16 was there at opening along with my wife (who took the day off of work) and helped out by running the cash register and credit machine while I packed the items purchased and tended to customers. I will have custom sign made when we do choose a name, in the mean time I will have a rock, mineral, crystal, shop sign placed. I did not run the saw at all today and need to get it prepped and ready tomorrow. Thank You for your support, it is very much appreciated...

Great opening and truly nice store! Thank You and it will change in the coming days as I build shelving on the walls and place more cases on the main floor. I am going to place a lot more rough in bins over the next few days as I get it sorted. I am just happy to finally have the doors open.

Do you know of any beaches that allow Dogs near you? Yes there is D River state park just in the middle of town off of hwy 101, and also Roads End State Park which I prefer even more because it is a less of a tourist area. It is located at the North end of Lincoln City, you take the Chinook Winds casino exit (Logan rd) and you follow the road down to the beach. Hope this helps...
