I have been to both in the same years twice and one year hit laughlin nv. too. It really depends how much time you have . Quartzsite has many shows at different times starting just after the holidays into the middle of Feb. all with diff. kinds of dealers .I think the prices are better in Quartzsite than in Tuscon. Laughlin i go to because the turq. is cheaper there than the other two shows. Tucson is so big it can get to you if you try to see it all,but i like it if nothing else just to look at all the rocks in one place no show can match that wowser.but I too say both are a must if you hit the time right you shouldn't miss one over the other. One thing i would like to clear up is that Tuscon runs two weeks not one. Toad i go every year or at least try to. I go for 3 or 4 weeks its to far of a drive to do less. So if i go and you fly we could meet up and i maybe can hall some rocks back for you if i don't get tooo loaded which has almost happened once. You are near Chicago right thats do able for me. we have alto of time before then so its something to think about. George Show dates this year ran Jan. 29 to the 13 of Feb.

I would keep it for cabbing. This is just my thinking it is much too expensive for tumble material. If you have too tumble just one or two pieces and keep an eye on it let us know how it turns out. George

Lol I had more to put in just no way to get it closed. Had to wrap it with tape to make sure it held. Did the slabs wrapped in newspaper make it with out braking. I took some out that broke on the way to me so i wrapped them hope it helped. The Montana moss is from the 40s and 50s very nice pieces. I have about 15lbs. of rough left out of a 20 lb. lot all but one very nice. The one was the worst fractured rock i have ever cut. George

While i was awaiting the robins arrival i went through some of what i will put in. Mostly going to be slabs and some small nice end cuts with a few small chunks of rough. I just started tumbling so most of what i have are big pieces of rough. I'm sorry i just cant take a hammer to a rock. So if you want the rough cut up let me know here soon. So far i have 3 fist sized pieces that will need cutting up. I have a varied selection of slabs put aside mahg. and snowflake obsidian and some green zebra , Montana moss, some carnelian varies thunder egg slices and end cuts. Some nice light pink rose quartz slabs and a fat end cut. A half fist size piece of chevron ammy along with some broken up and some thick slabs as this was blasted when mined. Thanks for starting this sherry. George

Diamond Pacific wants you to buy from the small dealers so they keep their prices high so they don't under cut them. I bought my pixie at a rock show and the dealer walked over to the D.P. tent and picked it up for me for 350 less than they would sell it too me for.SO lesson learned always go to the dealers as they get a discount for their volume of sales. hi joe you think you have problems we have a rock show in town this weekend. I had too stay over at work and got there at 6.15 it closes at 7.00. Called wife and told her to go and i will meet you there not a good thing she has it worse than me. So i go in and look for her no where to be found i page her nothing. I see her name on door prize board she was there car was outside when i pulled up so she has to be there but where. So i go back in and thought i would look around for her some more. I go striaght for the sugalite man drawn by the sea of purple pluse he was to bring me some Tampa Bay coral i had to check on. Well he forgot my order but i notice he has some rough sugalite and slabs in the back of the booth. So i ask too see some wow is this some nice stuff 24.00 for a small slab i must have it pull out crdit card he shakes head and says no cards on sugalite. He said why dont recall what was said as i have no cash on me and wife still missing i walk away mumbling to my self. Did manage to reorder the coral again he wrote it down so maybe in may. As i wander towards the door i see the wife behind a booth in corner. Show is closing for the night at this point. I get to booth where wife is and she is putting together a display case she wants to buy 350.00 for this thing. I tell her to get it if she wants it pulling out the credit card. Knowing she is going for it by the gleem she had in her eyes i knew it was futile at this point to say no. Sorry the lady says no credit on case as she is selling it for a friend. So now i get to go back today and since she got the case i figure that i get to buy something for me. Maybe a pound of sugalite 450.00 a pound no maybe some ocean jasper and two slabs of sugalite no maybe a i cant think any more.Wish me luck resistance is futile. George
