Not my entry, just a little something for all you cat lovers out there who need a little last minute inspiration to finish up your kitty cabs before the end of the month. Mine is coming ... I think. I still need to start it but I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. Yeah...what Nate said!

Alrighty then, no pressure though haha. I'm the guy who get stage fright trying to pee in a urinal at a Raiders game... So, my entry is a piece of tigilite that comes from the Globe AZ region, also known as fawn skin jasper even though it's not jasper. Now my thinking is this... if we can call other spotted materials by cat names, leopard, cheetah, etc. then I'm going to take some major liberties and say mine looks remotely like a domesticated Bengal house cat. I got a bunch of this stuff from AzRockGeek a few years ago and still have some of that but I got this particular piece from roy off his Full Moon Rock Shop page on Facebook. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it available on a BIN and grabbed it quick. It arrived like two days ago. Now get ready because this here is where it gets interesting ... the rock was kind of flat and I knew that I would have to cut it parallel to the flat side in order to get the dotted pattern as opposed to a very different long lines pattern, and there was no way I could accomplish this without some fancy use of my handy-dandy slab grabber that was made by ... Tony, catmandewe ! ... slab grabber made by CATmandewe for the win please So many parts of the pattern to choose from but I picked a small to medium spots transition just because it looked the most interesting to me. I got sloppy with the tile saw while trimming it and lost a bit of the height off it but that's OK too, it's still a very good size of cab in the end. Edited to add: OK now admittedly I am solidly in the dog camp in recent years but I grew up with cats, usually Saimese, and after my divorce around 2002 I lived in an apartment for ten years and rescued Bebe from the local Nine Lives Rescue. She is still still alive and healthy somewhere around 16 years old and living in peace away from my dogs at my mother's house under the care of my sister.

Nice cab Tommy! The shape is really good for the pattern. It's fun to see all of the other entries on this contest.

Tommy - Gorgeous cab...and I like your reasoning and thought process in the creation. Now...when exactly did Stone Cold Steve Austin start cat sitting? LOL

Now...when exactly did Stone Cold Steve Austin start cat sitting? LOL The real question is how and why did he go downhill so bad and so fast between ages of 42 and 57

I just went back and looked at all the entries (so far...there's still a couple hours!). And since this is a cat themed challenge...I have to say:

Looks like a cat to me. Bonus points, but not enough for victory by default. The things men will say to please women. Translation: I gave my bachelor-pad cat the boot when I fell in love with a woman who had dogs. Your wife must be as great as you say if you gave up an adorable lap cat for her. Seriously. That is love!

That is love! That wasn't exactly how it went down but not terribly far off either. There came a point when momma was caring for my dying dad, and she experienced a very bad fall breaking her pelvis and ending up in a nursing facility for a few months. It was at that point after discussing it with my siblings when I took my cat, my computer, and my bed, abandoned the bachelor pad and headed back to the house I grew up in to take care of them. Bebe quickly attached herself to momma's lap and it is now her permanent home. Meeting the woman I didn't know I had waited 47 years for AND her dogs was the happy closing of that season of life. There was a point when we were all one big happy cats and dogs family lol.

dang i should have kept that chunk lol I almost (almost) feel like I took advantage of you With this material, a pattern of long lines around the outside of the rock are a sure fire 'tell' that a perpendicular cut to the pattern will produce spots or 'worm tracks' as the material used to be called. I could see a promising pattern in your FB photo and I was pretty sure it was going to be a winner but the result seriously blew me away.

Cats are good company, especially for older folks. My mom like to say that she has to stay healthy and outlive my dad so she can replace him with a cat. (Not all marriages are as happy as yours ) He has allergies / asthma, and can't live with cats.
