I trust my tumblers more than I do other things in the house -- example , -- year ago thanksgiving day --- the kids were here and their dog got dirty so they gave him a bath in the tub , in the "not " main bathroom -- they turned the vent fan on and forgot to turn it off ( get the wet dog smell out) --- a short while later there was plastic fire drops coming down from the ceiling -- the fan motor had enough dust & lint on it that it caught fire , melting the plastic cover plate and the exhaust tubing acted as a flue to draw more air --------------- so now everyone can go take their exhaust fans apart and clean them -- or how often do you do that

Lori, --- in the "before trip" planning stage it was posted that if you wanted a box they would box it and send it --- think the going price from the ranch was $2.00 /# plus postage --- don't know how many ordered it tho

can you get them across the border so you could mail them in the flat rate boxes ? that's the only prob I see about getting them cut is the shipping charge ------- I'm usually up to cutting ( if I'm not busy with something else) and you have to remember that you lose close to 40 % when cutting slabs ( depends on how thick too) --- I've started weighing "before & after" and one I just did started out at 2 &1/2# and got 1 &1/2# of slabs --- what types are you wanting cut ? agates are hard and take longer but they don't mess up the oil as bad either --- some of those red jaspers turn it red in one cut and you almost have to replace it before you change to a different rock because the oil will stain the new rock ( if porous) --- just to give you a couple things to think about ! ;D -- but you can always ask me anyway!

I used some on mine last year --- remember it was laying on it's side in the yard ( pics) --- I also used the high pressure washer on it to get some of that caked on stuff off --- you don't really have to worry about greasing it up if you are going to use it right away -- the saw oil will coat EVERYTHING inside & out ;D as soon as you start using it ----- are the clamp arms made of brass to start with? -- if so you may be able to just mill them down a little and then recut the threads

Nice!!----- about the only place I've seen is that mine in northern nevada --- the one that was on the treasure show -- they have an area where it turns out "black opal" --- think they had a chunk that was about 35 # and @1000$ /# ---- but for $40.00 a day you can dig in that area too --- had some small "cabs" of that stuff for @ $10,000 a carat ( if I remember right ) --- I'd prob take my chances and dig there for a week ! ;D ;D

Randy, --- I already have one gal at the post office that says my boxes are "two handed ones !!" ;D ;D -- had a little over 26 #s in one and she checked it for regular mail -- would of been over $30 to send it !! ;D ;D --- we're just going to have to put "box stretchers" on them and make them a size bigger !! --would they stretch if we taped up the seams and pumped air into them ??

How big are these "laps" ?? --- if you run out of slabs for him , let me know -- I might have one or two he could take !! ;D ;D ( right --more like one thousand or two ) ;D ;D --- does that paste get "outdated" where they have to get rid of it ?? -- I have a "proper" disposal site here --- but only if "needed" --- he may have to start going to work early so he can have a 3-4 hour lunch !! ;D ;D ;D

;D ;D hey, try some big slabs without pellets . ;D --- you'll get 10 times as many slabs but they will all be smaller ! --- to me it all depends on what you are trying to tumble and polish as to whether you need them or not . --- if you do some of the softer stones ( more quartzy crystals) and mainly have all the same size ( bigger ones) then they will prob always fracture in some step ( even in the first grind -80 grit )--- these aren't noticed as much because they are getting ground down in size and rounded so if one breaks you don't really notice ---- the later stages you see the sharper edges more or see the white fracture lines ( the stone hasn't broken in two pieces --- I'm like Cher -- you didn't hit any nerves that I could see but rather each of us prob do it a little different than the next --- some of us have already walked those roads ! ;D " to do or not to do" and we are all still learning ! ;D --- more , bigger , better , easier, ( where's the shortcut ? ) ;D oh, and I never use the plastic ones --- only cermanic for me! ;D
