My husband is not as excited about my new hobby as I am, but he said tonight that at least my rock addiction isn't crack. That's a fine endorsement I suppose. He did say he'd make me a small shop this spring though.

Thanks! I did end up leaving it the way it is. I like that it doesn't slide on the cord.

Looks good, my only suggestion is that your bail needs to go the other direction or you need to add a larger jump ring to it. The reason for this is so that it will lay flat when you put it on a chain. Great job for a first wrap. Good suggestion. I wonder if I could twist it without breaking the solder on the back? I'll have to play with it a bit.

I've been practicing a bit on rough rock. This is my first wrap with tumbled rock. It's soldered on the back to keep it tight. Just used cheap copper wire. I like having the hole drilled in. It makes it feel more secure. I welcome feedback. Thanks for looking!

You guys sure do know how to make a girl feel good. ๐ I am enjoying this hobby very much so it's a huge boost to get results like this and hear nice things from folks with your experience.

Thanks for all the nice things you are saying about my tumble. The only reason they took shine is because I've been reading the advise on the boards for a while. I ended up leaving most of these to tumble for almost 6 weeks, until I couldn't feel flaws before taking them to second stage. The black rock I actually pulled out of the batch a couple weeks ago and when I posted it I was told it could be better so I threw everything back to prepolish ran it a while longer. Couldn't believe the shine it got. I'm very glad I found this group!

I can't wait until I have another batch ready. I have some rolling in first stage and some in second.

I have one barrel that is going on week four in rough grind. One in second stage and one in polish. This came out of polish. I just put some ao polish on a paper towel and ran that over the rock. You were right. It can get shinier. I do like the feel of it though. I love the feedback. This is a fun hobby and I want to get it right.

I did. I tried but had to look. I thought I did pretty good only keeping one out. Luckily the week gets so busy I won't even be tempted till Saturday afternoon. I may put this little guy back in and see what happens when I do that clean out. I'm kind of curious what it is.

I have a very small quantity of rocks that have moved to polish and I was peeking on them and pulled this one out. If I didn't have the bug before, I do now.

I am out the other way but not to far. I'd love to meet up with someone in this area that could help point me in the right direction.

That's a good idea. I might have some of that in the garage. It is pretty shiny when it's wet.

I'm just outside of Pierre. Only a little cold these days.๐ She's the only reason I'm trying to figure something out with this rock. She wants it shines like the ones in the store.

That one is almost 7 lbs and I only have 3# barrels. We have a hill in our backyard that is almost all gravel at the top. Most of the rocks I'm pulling out seem to have a thick crust. I was shocked the first time I checked the barrels and saw so much color. I haven't invested in a saw yet but I do have a plethora of tools in the shop. My hubbys a mechanic and has some air tools with cutting capabilities.
