It was great wasn't it Lonewolf? Wish we could have spent more time with you. I'm glad you and your family made it back safely.

We had a blast at Woodward Ranch, its an unbelievable place. It was such a comfortable environment, we hunted like fiends then would gather back at camp to do show and tell, all of us carrying around our big finds of the day. The first day I spent with stoner and condor at the east ranch, we met up with pho, blarneystone, Susan, Sheri and Pete,(Drupe) and we were all so excited to finally be out hunting the agate that none of us really made it very far from the trucks. Trey Woodward had given us a map to an area that he said would prove to be some excellent hunting, well we never even made it to the spot he had told us about because the area we all leaped out of the truck at, kept us busy for the rest of the day. On Monday some of us went back to the east end of the ranch, Don, (Mailman) had mentioned that he was new to all of this stuff so I offered to show him how to spot the nodules and told him I would show him where I found most of my agate the day before, so he and I set off with our backpacks in our own direction. He knows first hand how out of control I am when I'm hunting rocks. I must have told him 50 times that I have more rock than I can carry........lets head back to the truck. 45 minutes later here we are further away from the truck, on the side of a mountain pulling nodules out of the basalt. My backpack was full so I had left it behind and was using my T-shirt for a rock bag, I said to Don again, I really don't think I can carry anymore.....Should we head back to the truck to empty our backpacks? He said, I thought we were heading back to the truck, isn't this the way back? Well, ummm, kinda, but not really! Anyway, we made it back to my backpack and we sat down to rest for a minute, unfortunately......Don had sat down on a big piece of cactus and he was trying to get back up then right in the middle of all the oohhs and ouches he stops to grab a rock.....Then went back to oh, geez, ouch, that really smarts! After I pulled the cactus off of his butt, we both laughed so hard. On the way back to the truck, I found the huge piece of flower garden agate that I posted pictures of. Tuesday, I went with Kim, Holly and Morgan back to the area I had found while I was with Condor and Stoner on our first day out. Kim showed me the correct way to run over the top of the "wait a minute" bushes that were in our way, I learned that if you are leasing a vehicle, you need not worry about the silly "wait a minute" bushes, even if they are almost as tall as the car. Let nothing stand between you and the rocks that you are after. Thanks Kim for the enlightenment. Well, I still have a couple more stories that I want to share with everyone but for now, I'll just say, there is no way on God's green earth that I would pass up a chance to reunite with any of the people I met at the Woodward Ranch trip. I enjoyed myself so much that I am already planning a fall get-together for the RTH members here in Arizona. As soon as I have all the details worked out, I will post all the info for anyone that might be interested in a rockhounding adventure in Arizona. The best part of this trip is that the rockhounding and the rocks are free, actually that would be the second best.......Seeing everyone again would be the bomb.

Hey, I didn't see you taking those pics. Good thing it wasn't one of those times I was trying to steal one of your excellent finds.
Sign me up for the fall trip.

I see you all had great time together. I wish I live at least 5000 miles closer to Woodward Ranch. My bad luck. This way I can only be jealous. Which I am not. Buy the way, that Susan's "Early Morning Coffee and Agate" picture is so cool. I think that should be elected as kind of RTH graphical slogan or something... I am glad you had such a great time together. Zoran

Here are three pictures of the same rock. It is called Needle Peak agate. Pictured wet. These are the slabs. Backlit by the sun. I will post more as I go along. Condor

We not only had good rockhounding days, but good Rock'nRoll music too. Pho had taken some time and made us all a 2 volume CD set of some great old rockers. I mean these were personalized CD's. And also some really cool quartz crystals too. These were handed to me as soon as I walked into camp. Just the beginning. Nice pics Tom. You got a lot of the entire area. Thanks Tom.

That's the Texas Roaming Gnome! Good thing Pho was there to keep an eye on him too, he darn near got squished under that rock. I see he's quite a busy little bugger too, lucky he didn't cut his toes off on that saw or fall in the creek. You must have spent all your time chasing him Pho but you sure got some good shots.
